I'm bringing this thread back to life because I'm looking for a good fuzz in the $100 range and the Ruiner seems to be a valid option. Since I'm going to use it a lot for loud songs (I play in a post rock band) and can't find one to try around here, my question is: should I save a little more...

Pay attention to details. Aesthetic matters to a lot of people and I personally like companies that have some kind of leitmotif in their graphics/etching (ie EQD or Iron Ether). Also, it'd be cool to have a video or some samples for each pedal on the company's website, once the whole thing...

The Mooer Shimverb is pretty good and it's under $100

I agree. Mine does that at home (as well as all my other pedals), were the electrical system sucks, but I've never experienced hums when I played in places with decent systems.

Boss PN-2. They don't make it anymore, but something pops up on ebay from time to time (it's the one the TR-2 replaced in 1995, I think). It sounds great with bass and it can be really hard-chopping.
