Essex (SX) Bass Club - Part 15

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this over the past few months, but I've hardly seen any more Ursa 2 basses (right-handed) on Rondo Music's website. I'll more often see the left-handed or the short-scale models, but that's basically it. Glad I picked up mine when I did, not sure how...

    First Gig!

Very cool, glad it all worked out the first time around ... and you guys sound great!

    First Jam Session?

I'm a bit biased (and as I always say, "I'm a bassist on a budget"), but I absolutely love SX basses! Great quality for the price and the customer service at Rondo Music is top-notch, too. I have five SX basses already and wouldn't be surprised if I pick up a few more at some point. I...

    Sx basses

Love, love, LOVE my SX basses! Plus I have a five string version of the SX Ursa 2 Ash with the natural wood look to it. Didn't take pictures of it yet, that was one that I got used from Guitar Center online for $40 (originally $100), due to a price adjustment made afterwards because of...

Making the leap to an (inexpensive) 6 string bass

This is a really decent active 6-string bass for the price ... I used to own one of these, except mine was a navy blue color I think. The electronics are kinda so-so on it, but for $125 it's a solid deal overall, especially if you're just testing the 6-string waters. The 6-string basses that...

Stepping out on a limb here...Fans of JT?

Funny that you mention Justin Timberlake, he actually worked with Duran Duran on their 2007 album Red Carpet Massacre. He's an amazing performer, much respect for him as well.

Stepping out on a limb here...Fans of JT?

John Taylor is the main reason I play bass, but my username probably gave that away already. ;)

The most comfortable and uncomfortable bass you ever owned.

Most comfy for me was my Kubicki Ex Factor. Least comfy was some no-name Fender p-bass clone.

NBD: 6 years for this bass to find a home....

I saw what you did there. ;)

    Taking suggestions

Another guy who I would recommend on YouTube would be Josh Fossgreen. He has a nice relaxed style and presents things really well.

Do 4 string basses sound different than 5 string basses?

    No argument here.

Should I sell or should I keep...

Yeah, I'd say sell it as well. If all it's basically doing is collecting dust, and if you honestly aren't going to play it much, I'd say use whatever money you get for it and put that towards a bass that you'll make good use of.

    Foam Mutes on Ebay...oh lord...

I'd be all over this, but shipping kills the deal.

    Hand size

5'8" guy here with average sized hands, and the bass I use the most is a six-string. Don't worry, you'll be more comfortable with the fret spacing the more you practice. The main thing is that you use safe technique with your fretting hand so as to prevent any kind of injury. There are some...

Essex (SX) Bass Club - Part 15

I think I remember reading something a few pages back that if you email Kurt at Rondo Music, he has extra decals available.
