My sister in law took my basses!

If you haven't already done it, contact the police. Call their business number and ask an officer out to the house. An awful lot of theft is committed by people known to the victim, and the longer you wait, the more it will look like you didn't think it was a "real" theft, but maybe your...

    Overrated Bass Players

It's about jealousy (and people pretending to be able to imagine the music in question with some other bass player - themselves? - playing instead). To my way of thinking, the Beatles are a good band (just to name one band whose bass player was called "over rated").

    The Five Scale Forms

I'm still confused by what you mean by 5 scale forms - but yes, knowing how to run up a major scale anywhere on the fretboard is an accomplishment. Sounds like it's time for arpeggios.

The problem I would have with a teacher

Socrates was teaching philosophy, you might look into what Pythagorus's advice to students was (he required that all students take music lessons before allowing them to study math or much of anything else). But I see that you're anxious about not approaching the teacher properly A good...

Bass lines/songs that everyone should learn

It's not just about learning covers, it's about learning what those bass players are doing, when they invented those lines (or borrowed them) for those songs. Great list of songs. Kid Charlemagne teaches a lot. So does Money. There are some easier ones worth learning too, like All My Lovin'...

I am teaching my self bass

Find someone to play with. A singer whom you have to accompany, or a guitar player (better than a singer for you) or a drummer. There's no way to learn to play bass really well all by yourself. You can self-teach, but you must learn right away to play with others.

The problem I would have with a teacher

As a teacher (formerly, a music teacher), I can say that any good teacher will have your lesson ready for you. If you can already read rhythm and note from a score, and you've got jazz charts down, there's lots of other things to work on. You can read musically perfectly, right? And transpose...

Screwy teacher or is this normal?

Most people simply charge per the lesson.

    chordal notes/tones

From what I can tell from reading your post (but not all the responses), you're on the right track. And from what I can tell from reading *some* of the responses - pay no attention, you're just checking terminology. You've already learnt it.

    Playing the Root Note

There are some extraordinary root-only bass lines. The genre is often alternative or punk. But not always. Still a bass line.

    Tuning lesson learned

Yeah, everyone should be in tune before you start.

Really faint Scratches on Fender Highway One Jazz

I must be missing something. I thought the whole idea of a Highway One model was to hearken back to the days of Janis Joplin riding around in Big Rig trucks and people lugging their instruments from Haight Ashbury to Los Angeles and back. Amiwrong? Why pay extra to relic something, when...

What size allen wrench for my Squier fretless bass?

Thanks guys, all the suggestions are helpful. They'll probably have the right one at the local Guitar Center, where someone will be nice enough to adjust it for me and then I can ask them the size.

    Is using tabs for noobs?

Learning tab certainly does not lower your musical consciousness! Everyone should learn as much as possible. If you can get rhythm just by listening to a song and don't need rhythm notation - just the fingering - tab is great. If you want to play something you've never heard before, though -...

What size allen wrench for my Squier fretless bass?

I'm sure I have no idea. What I want to do is adjust height of my strings a little. I think I need an allen wrench. The ones I have aren't the right size. Any help on what to do? (I can barely change a battery).
