Vintage Owners Club (the bass brand, not all older basses)

Sad news. I have just snagged of the VJ74 30th Anniversary Ltd Edn basses. I believe they only made 60 of them in total. The pic is from the website as mine is in transit still.

Looking for some Info on a Retrovibe Renegade Bass

I picked this up just before Christmas. Apparently one of eight made in this colour round 10 years ago. It's nice and light (under 8lbs) and has full Ric style electrics with the pull up tone on the bridge pickup. Not sure what the pickups are specifically but they sound awesome. It has a 33...

    NBD - AGH Viper

Here are a few pics of my old Greco that I was really wanting to like.

    NBD - AGH Viper

I had an SG and had the same feeling about it as Lowbassman. I also had an EB3 copy by Greco (I think it was long scale iirc) but it was just not comfortable to play and neck dived for fun. I'll see if I can find any pics of it. This new AGH, whilst by no means a budget bass, does everything...

    NBD - AGH Viper

I also asked that access to the higher frets (obviously only to be used in cases of extreme emergency) be made easier by making the lower horn shorter and the body a bit asymmetric plus a bit of scalloping of the top of the body.

    NBD - AGH Viper

Thank you kindly. It's actually a 32" scale which is comfortable for me to play. In terms of the specs, they are as follows: Top - Rosewood Body wings - Cherry (like the older Warwicks) Neck - Multi-laminate of Maple and Wenge Fret board - Rosewood Bridge pickup - Essentially the same as a...

    NBD - AGH Viper

Hi folks I though you might be interested to see this. AGH is a small UK builder based in Leek in the midlands. I have always loved Gibson basses, but never quite found 'that' bass. So took the plunge and had one built to my exact spec. Here are a few pics.

The "Official" Black 'n' Maple Club - Part Four

My contribution from a small island on the other side of the pond. SBMM Pete Wentz Stingray. Please ignore my non-compliant ACG fretless.

Sterling by Music Man Pete Wentz Signature

I picked up a preloved one some weeks ago. I've never really got on with Stingrays & Sterlings because of the preamp as I could never quite get what I wanted out of the bass. Anyway, this passive one is spot on (for me). Added ZeroMods thumb rest is great for when warmer moments are needed...

The Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass Club

Just acquired a pre-loved v2 MPJ. I say preloved, it was slightly pre-abused with a broken headstock but now upgraded with a MIM Player Series roasted maple J neck and Ultralites.

    SG & EB Bass Club

Just picked up this 2011 SG. Looks like NOS as I can't see a mark on it and the pickguard film is still in place. Needs a set up and I think I'm going to go for a Babicz full contact bridge for the bass.

    Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 (2020)

Hi folks I've just purchased a fretless RSD from Thomann DE. I guess it's one of the more recent series as it has the Just A Nut 3. Seems well put together and plays very nicely. One question I have is whether there is any kind of trim pot on the preamp circuit to turn the gain down a bit as...

Fender Jazz Bass Special - Circa 1984-87

My bad should have said PJ-455.

Fender Jazz Bass Special - Circa 1984-87

Just picked up this bad boy just because it looked cool even though I had no idea what it was. Turns out it's an E series PB-455 and it's a great little bass. It really surprised me as I was thinking it would be fun to add a few mods to it. Going to instal a black Gotoh bridge but it sounds...

    Sterling by musicman SB14 bass

Warning: Zombie thread resurrection During these dark coronavirus times I was randomly looking at the websites for some local music shops here in the northwest UK when I noticed an SB14 bass being offered as new by a local store. After much probing the best that they would admit to was that...
