    The Official Proto Precision Club

Got one on the way, can't wait to play it. I have a 68 Tele bass and love it, but wanted the 55 style because of the more comfortable body. I will post more when it gets here, most likely the end of the week.

I'm Hanging up the bass........anyone else been here?

Take care of your kid, and family, the bass will still be there when your life calms down. Couldn't live with myself if I didn't take care of what was really important.

To clean or not to clean......

Wipe down all the time. Micro-fiber towels are awesome. Only takes a couple of seconds, I keep all my guitars clean and shiny. Meguires Detailer and microfiber cloths.

Guitars do not have input jacks!

The jack in one of my guitars came out of a parts bin labeled "input jacks", so, it is an input jack doing output work. But technically, it is an input jack. But, it is outputting. Now I don't know what to call it. Just jack, I guess.

    1959 Precision Bass' guts replacement

My opinion is play it, leave it alone! You have an super nice original bass. Gut it out and you wrecked that. Play the crap out of it. My 62 goes to every rehearsal and every gig. They are not delicate! Have fun with it.

1975 Jazz Bass: does a refret decrease value?

I have a 68 Telecaster bass that is awesome to play, sounds great. But, the frets were whipped. So I take it to the local guy who is the last word in re-fretting. He wants to plane the neck. My original, fabulous incredible original neck. I say, NO, put new original size frets in, level them and...

    1958 Fender Precision

Do it...., the 58 will only get more out of reach as time goes on. I pulled the trigger on a all original '62, and there isn't a day goes by I'm not glad. All original pre-CBS is gold.

    Transportation For Roadtrip Gigs

A used school bus is cheap to buy and hauls a lot of stuff and people. And it's what we use, although not a full size bus. Ours is smaller and diesel, cheap to buy and buy fuel for.

Fender basses don't fit me, so whats the deal.

Oh Wow,"Plank?" My bass was called a plank over 63 years ago, and that's OK. Not comfortable to you but heaven to me. To each his own, but you are missing out on the greatest basses ever made.
