The bass clearly needs to be seen by a luthier for the seam repair, the overstand looks wonky too. Someone also needs to report this Degas guy, and his ballerina friends, for bass abuse.

I love his playing particularly on The Gary Burton albums Dreams So Real, Times Square, and Easy As Pie. His solos on Radio and Como en Vietnam (among others) from Times Square are really worthy of close study.

Great choice for a first bass and yeah the strings look like they’re laying on the fingerboard as Root 5 noticed. Have fun, get a good teacher to ease your transition.

Someone got a deal, I guess it was one set of Flexocor Deluxes and two sets of D'Addario Helicore Orchestras. The Flexocors alone sell for around $300 per set new. D'Addarios for around $175 each. I almost bid but I already have too many sets I'm not using.

My Grunert (Lott model 1985) also has a separate plug and endpin configuration as you can see in the picture.

If you live in NC you’d be wise to visit the Bass Violin Shop in Greensboro to have her try out some basses before you make a decision if you haven’t already. For that price point ($3,500) you’re likely to find something you’ll like.

Or, sell a s***ton of basses on consignment then pocket the proceeds without compensating the owners. Great profit margin on that.
