    playing bass through guitar amp??

I track with a single channel 6550 loaded JCM 800 into a Mesa 2x10 Diesel series cab. Makes for GREAT sounding bass tracks. :)

Does anyone know what kind of speakers SWR put in their Big Bertha cab?

...and if they're no longer using the same speakers in their cabs, where can I find replacements that are the same type as the originals?

    Highway One/American Standard Comparison

The 51's were. :) And yeah...I generally prefer the sound and response of a string through bolt-on instrument unless there's a lot of mass to the bridge or the pickups are hotter. :) That's not to say top loaders sound horrible...just that given the choice between a top loader and...

    Highway One/American Standard Comparison

One is string-thru-body and one is top mount. That's a HUGE difference as far as I'm concerned...which is why I'd never buy a MIM, Highway One or Road Worn series Fender.

What's a higher end alternative to the Fender P Bass?

Well, it is and it isn't. I was pretty much sold when I nailed my P-Bass tone so accurately. Beyond that, it was so versatile that I felt I was getting the tonal variety I was looking for without having to go with a custom setup. And, of course, the build quality was quite nice without being too...

What's a higher end alternative to the Fender P Bass?

So...after much research and consideration I took my Bartolini and "D" tuner loaded American P Bass down to Guitar Center and compared it to a variety of basses. At the advice of one of the forumites who posted here, I decided to give the Music Man, Sting Ray 4 string a shot...HOLY COW! I...

What's a higher end alternative to the Fender P Bass?

OK...I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to my guitars and basses. My main basses tend to be either Fender American Standard P Basses with Bartolini pickups and a Hipshot D tuner or a stock Ric. I replaced a neck on one of my P basses once with a Warmoth neck that I liked A...

FINALLY...I've found what I'm looking for soundwise!

We'll see. :D However, for right now, I am happier with my bass tone than I have been in years. :)

FINALLY...I've found what I'm looking for soundwise!

One is a Deluxe...it goes into the bright amp and the 2x10's. I use it to switch between 3 settings... 1. Main sound 2. Smooth mids 3. Distortion The second is a regular Bass Driver DI. The bass signal is fed to it from the Bass Driver Deluxe's unaffected parallel out (this is how the signal...

FINALLY...I've found what I'm looking for soundwise!

After months of going through a variety of cabs and amps, I'm finally found the sound I've been looking for...I just had to go back to using SWR to get it. :D I started out an SWR user about 10 years ago. I used to use the old SWR Bass 750 and a Super Redhead and a pair of SWR 4x10's that I...

Playing in two bands... Who does it?

I play guitar in a band called The New Day Breakers and I play bass in a band called Songs for Snakes. Both bands do original material so sometimes that makes booking gigs easier because I can book both bands for the same show. For a while I just played either guitar or bass in just one...
