I track with a single channel 6550 loaded JCM 800 into a Mesa 2x10 Diesel series cab. Makes for GREAT sounding bass tracks. :)

The 51's were. :) And yeah...I generally prefer the sound and response of a string through bolt-on instrument unless there's a lot of mass to the bridge or the pickups are hotter. :) That's not to say top loaders sound horrible...just that given the choice between a top loader and...

One is string-thru-body and one is top mount. That's a HUGE difference as far as I'm concerned...which is why I'd never buy a MIM, Highway One or Road Worn series Fender.
