I would use Schaller or Dunlop straplocks to secure a strap to a bass. IMO,when they are installed properly, they are seldom a problem. I have used the round black plastic devices which you refer to. They work, but I didn't trust them.

A word I like to use is "splendido" (pronounced splendeedough) when someone asks me how I'm doing. It's a hispanic twist on the word splendid. I think it's a lot better than responding with a good, etc.

Did you use black tinted tongue oil? I'm not familiar with this process. It seems your application is more of a stain than a paint. I really like seeing the wood grain through the dark stain. It looks great, and I too especially like the matching use on the headstock.
