    Circle K strings...

My questions are: Have you ordered strings from them? How long did it take to get them? I'd like a reply to my emails but the questions were about the strings so I ordered anyway without a reply and I'd rather have the strings but haven't had any response about my order either. If you can...

    Circle K strings...

When I ordered my strings, their website said they were at NAMM but I wrote several emails to them before that and haven't heard anything. Can someone tell me their experience with time to receive email replies and time to receive strings ordered? thanks.

    Circle K strings...

I've been wanting to try balanced tension strings on my bass for a while now and I just bought another bass (on backorder) to string with BEAD, but not knowing which tension I want. I will probably order Circle Ks (glad I read this first because I haven't heard back from my emails to him/them...

Volume Knobs have Poor Response on Fender Jazz

Well, I didn't really expect the basic wiring to be too complicated but I'm still not sure exactly what your 50Kohm potmeter does if it doesn't have it's own knob. And for now, all I really want to do is fix or replace the 2 volume pots with a more steady, consistent volume increase/decrease...

Volume Knobs have Poor Response on Fender Jazz

I appreciate the reply, and I understand the words, but not the meaning. In other words, I don't really understand what you're describing since I have never done any electronics work before. Are you talking about adding another volume knob (drilling holes) or replacing the current ones, or...

Volume Knobs have Poor Response on Fender Jazz

Thanks for the reply but how do I know what I have (especially since Ibanez doesn't seem to have the wiring diagrams or detailed specs)? The idea of linear makes more sense than log (or exponential?) pot, but I have heard comments that "linear is better than log" and vice versa. If I knew what...

Volume Knobs have Poor Response on Fender Jazz

I have an Ibanez GSR200FM that I really like but the volume knobs have always bugged me. Now that I've decided to do something about it, it seems I have to learn a lot more than I originally planned, just like about everything in music these days. I thought this was an active bass, I mean it...

    Not enough amp?

Yes you're right. The Peavey doesn't have a gain knob so I haven't dialed it up yet on the Behringer, which is a 4x10. The Peavey is a 1x15. Thanks for all the suggestions and feedback. Sometimes learning is fun, other times it's a real pain.

    Not enough amp?

True but only doing the real shaking with the effects chain. Without, it gets an ok volume but not massive. And cranking it from 5 to 10 doesn't seem to boost it that much, but I haven't messed with the gain much. The downside to using Ableton Live for my effects is I have to deal with...

    Not enough amp?

Thanks for the really quick reply, but I'm not sure I understand all the replies. The tough thing is understanding which HW/SW is contributing what. My 8 channel I/O has a pot knob which certainly increases/decreases the volume. Ableton Live has volume/gain knobs and the various effects have...

    Not enough amp?

I've tried to find the answer but maybe haven't looked far enough. I bought 2 Behringer items: a 450W amp and a 1200W cab. Without adding any effects or gain, I get an "ok" volume with this setup. I can add gain on the amp, or "phat" from my Ibanez bass for a nice boost, and I can boost the...

If only I knew then what I know now...

I am glad to find so much useful (and a little overboard) information here and other threads, since I just picked up the bass in September. Actually it was given to me by the guitar player since I refused to try to squeeze my keyboard in a 9x11 bedroom with guitar, amps, pa, drums and few...

    Is my bass crap???

Thanks, hope I'll figure out what's causing it, but I noticed something odd. I haven't tried to adjust the pickup yet but the side near the neck is lower than the other. I don't know if it's designed that way or adjusted that way. I always thought pickups were generally flat toward the...

    Is my bass crap???

Hey, thanks for all the replies. I did actually lower the action myself without too much trouble and it feels better already, but I still have the issue of getting a "blat" out of the low E string if I hit it too hard or wrong angle or something. I guess that's because there's no other string...
