A store’s ability to be a fender dealership

Perhaps in the USA, but for most of the rest of the world I would say much more like Honda.

Grunge is back! First gig done...

I've got a mate who sings in a prog rock cover band that regularly play there. The local crowd is always up for it. Well done for getting back into it and going down well.

Worst injury received while playing bass

Been there, done that - on both counts.

Many thanks for all the great suggestions so far. Much food for thought.

Actually no longer UK, (I've just updated my profile), we moved to the Republic of Ireland a year ago, so I've swapped the Thames for the wild Atlantic ocean. More sheep, fewer basses!

@B-Mac The main thing that bothered me was the neck profile and width - I like a slender neck, despite having fairly large hands. I can live with the body thickness (check out my profile pic!) and I know there are ways of countering the neck dive, such as moving the strap pin, which I didn't do...

Not many basses around where I live now (the rural West coast of Ireland) but maybe I should buy another cheap Jazz-alike (it's the slim neck I'm after) and experiment with a P pickup up by the neck and different strings.

Yeah, if I still had it, I wouldn't sell it now. It was mainly the neck width/profile that I didn't like, but I could live with it.

You're right, of course, and I'm honestly not obsessing over it - just wondering how best to get that sound (or close to it) with a slimmer neck and, for preference, no neck dive. To be honest, if I had the JC now, I'd just keep it, I sold it when I thought I wouldn't be playing much bass for a...

Looking for Epiphone Jack Cassidy soundalike.

Wow! Ok, there must be something in there that's similar - though, of course, most are likely to be out of my justifiable price range. I only ever really used one of the Varitone settings but now that I haven't got the bass, I can't remember which one!

Thanks for your input, @BeeTL - without discounting what B-Mac says, I'd be willing to try the JCB electronics in a solid body if I can get hold of them, and could always then look for a suitable semi to mod if that doesn't get me close enough.

So.... with such a range to choose from, and assuming that the pictured JC is yours, what have you got that sounds closest to the Epiphone?

Looking for Epiphone Jack Cassidy soundalike.

Yeah, I thought of that but couldn't find a pickup (didn't look that hard). I haven't tried going straight to Epiphone though.

Looking for Epiphone Jack Cassidy soundalike.

I had a Jack Cassady for a while and loved the sound but never really liked the neck or the ergonomics. Now I listen back to a few recordings I did with that bass and would really like to get the sound again. My only current EBG is a Squire CV Jazz, which is lovely but very different. So - any...
