Grunge is back! First gig done...

My new Grunge covers band had its first gig last Friday (17th Feb) at a lovely little pub in St Neots (UK) called the Pig and Falcon.
Tiny stage space, which was 50% dance-floor too. Really cramped, made us a little nervous setting up. Once the gig started it turned out to be a winner with the audience in our faces, right up to the PA speakers and mic stands.

Seems we did a reasonable job too. As it's 90s Grunge, there were a lot of tracks people hadn't heard in a while and they were very complimentary. So much so that we've been booked for a return gig in October already.

Here's a snippet or two. I haven't played out in a while (that's me with the Player series P), I had great fun on the night. Looking forward to the next gig!

Sounds is a bit whooshy - it was all recorded on my GoPro, so apologies for that. I'm going to try and take an audio feed out the PA for the next gig.

Nice job! Dang, that's a tight stage. I've played on a couple like that.

It's on our website (not in order, but by band). Interweb address is in my signature.... and here:

Cool! Of course I remember listening to all those songs, even played a couple of these myself (on guitar) back then almost 30 years ago, snif :crying:

I am curious, do you manage to play them all with the same tuning? I think that at least some Soundgarden songs used unusual tunings, and Alice in Chains is practically always Drop D, if I remember right...

Anyway, your band sounds good! You also nailed the clothing :D

Thanks - we've put a bit of effort into the "look" with it too.

We've managed to do all the tracks in either standard (EADGBE) or drop-D (DADGBE) tuning, with the aim of spending as little time between songs tuning up (or down) - and therefore keeping the audience happy. Also to minimise potential for tuning mistakes.
Some of the originals are indeed recorded in some other weird tunings too, we stayed well away from incorporating those and worked around it!

I'm hopping I can make a better audio recording during one of our next few gigs, as the condenser mic on the GoPro really isn't up to much (as evidence in the YouTube link, your honour).

Lol, As the bass player for the Texas Premier STP tribute band "Unglued" I approve, nice job.

We are also in a 90s 2000 cover band called "the Lostboys" and we have found that crowds are now starting to crave the even harder stuff, Chevelle Tool, RATM, Drowning Pool, Puddle of Mud, etc.

The lighter stuff like matchbox 20 is not as sought out anymore. At least by our crowd.

Great job, sounds awesome

Still waiting for Nu-Metal to have its comeback...(not really) but Godsmack is coming to my town doing a full acoustic set for 2.5 hours. I will admit that would be interesting if the remaining tickets were not 200$...I think i will hold out until Limp Bizkit goes on tour. (sarcasm)... I never got too see Cornell or Staley in their prime, and i envy those that did.
