Anyone else think those kids padgents are creepy and wrong?

+1 This applies to basically everything and everyone on TLC, be it religious crazies with 20 children or 1,000 pound wads of goo that can't move. You're not supposed to watch it and think "what a nice family/little girl/goo wad," you're supposed to be shocked and lose your faith in humanity...

Mike Oldfield fans: do you still listen to Tubular Bells?

Woah, he was 17?? I just wiki'd it, it says he was 20 when it was released, though I'm sure it took a while for him to get an album like that made at that time. Now I feel that much less accomplished... And answering your question, I think I'll go ahead and give it a listen right now...

    is all music the same?

Definitely one of the best musicians out there. And smart enough to realize that the world needs her to be an over-the-top ridiculous pop star instead of another pretentious snob whining about what everyone else chooses to play.

    Beastie Boys fans?

It makes me happy to see this thread, I've just started seeing people knock the Beasties on here, and it makes me wonder if they really play bass or listen to music. I'll always be thankful that my brother played them so much when I was young, I think it ingrained the really funky **** into my...

15 Reasons Why Music in 1999 MATTERED

Funny thing about this is... It's not true at all. Unless you're a big indie fan, (in which case, things are going great) No one in 2009 is arguing that 2009's music is the best ever. And before this thread, no one ever said anything at all about 1999, let alone that it was an all-time-great...

    NEW (for me) BASS DAY!

Damn. I'm a big groove tools fan and I was just thinking today about what a blue refinish would look like on one. Beautiful!

The secret of how to improve your playing.

Actually, it's a 4th farther away from playing a guitar... :rollno: Really, the OP is just giving examples. I don't see myself playing a fretless anytime soon, it's just not the sound I'm looking for, but it's not hard to see the value in learning it. It's easy for all of us to pick up the...

Are there any 'flaws' with a MIA Fender P Bass?

Hit and miss quality control? Is it fair to say that you shouldn't have to worry about getting a "lemon" when you spend $1,300 on an American-made instrument? (And one that is arguably the simplest instrument in the entire world to manufacture?)

    The art of "shredding"..gone?

Shredding is only interesting to pimply pre-teens who play instruments (or wish they did) and stay awake at night waiting for their dads' 70's and 80's guitar rock to become "cool" again.

Now you can record a sloppy bass line and fix it later *-)

+1 This isn't for making bad takes good, it's for making great takes "flawless." This technology is nothing new... It's still always been easier and faster (i.e. cheaper) to make (instrument-based) music with an instrument, not a mouse. :bassist:

    Bands using "Backing Tracks"

Amen. I love how people are using the argument "Oh, well our (drunk, unwitting) audience doesn't know the difference and we sound great!" First it's vocal harmonies, then a key part here and there, then drums, then you know what? Your singer, who your audience ACTUALLY CAME TO SEE can do...

    Where is rock music headed?

While many artists still use sampling to some extent, hip hop has come a long way since looping "Funky Drummer" and adding rhymes was the status quo. The genre has long since moved to a more producer-driven format, with (for the most part) original beats. I never got why people see hip hop as...

Is Randy Jackson the most Successful Bassist of all Time?

Quoted For Truth. How many people outside of forums like these know Paul primarily for his bass playing? Would he have gotten knighted if he never sang on the recordings? Playing bass is only one part of the game.
