I knew I would kick myself later but around '92 I sold my '63 P/bass, my stand up, my '73 Guild JS bass and my Ampeg Baby bass and numerous amps because I was so disgusted with myself for not playing. I have recovered somewhat though and had a 63 Pbass made by J Kallas.

There is no best. Just what sound appeals to you at a certain time. However let me throw out a name of a man that made the bass lines that inspired me from childhood and will into the future - the "Senator" - EUGENE WRIGHT! He wasn't real fancy, but sooooo solid!
