I still use mine for chorus and for effects like distortion for certain solos. It is not noisy either.

I still use my 506. It has held up nicely for me.

That, my friend, is a tough question. It comes down to personal preference. I have a 5-string and play 4-string more often. For me, it's a tone and style thing.

I knew I wanted to be a bass player when I heard Big Noise from Winnetka. . However, I started after watching guy playing BT&T's Spinning Wheel on a PBass on am an Ampeg Flip-top in 1968 combo at the county fair.

I use TI jazz flats. They have a warm classic old-school sound. They so sound amazing in the mix and to fill out a rhythm section. IMHO they are not mean for soloing.
