    tubes or transformer?

We all know about warm and more musical saturation coming from tubes and transformers. But there are some more factors. Vacuum tubes have constant input impedance (capacitance and resistance), and are not providing linear distortion and modulation, it is very important with high and very high...

    8 ohm/4 ohm = rarely use amp's full potential

What is so special with identical speakers ? Please let me know. There are several theories about serial speakers, but I can hear the difference in sound/tone in comparison with parallel connection. Try 2x 8ohm speakers in series connected to 16ohm output, and then parallel connected to 4ohm...

    8 ohm/4 ohm = rarely use amp's full potential

Do not use the serial loudspeakers connection for bass (only parallel), it is killing the loudspeaker LF damping factor. However - it sounds very good for lead guitar. Not so good for rhythm guitar, ac. guitar, keyboards, Hi-Fi, etc. "clean" sounding sources.

Have you ever boiled your bass strings?

Almost lost pleasure :) Some of my friends changed strings after 3 years, I asked why? They said: we do not know ! Looks like for pleasure :) most

Have you ever boiled your bass strings?

Forgot to suggest using Optima Gold Bass strings, they are almost forever. Check all string contact points/surfaces to be not sharp (to not break strings) - bridge plate holes (if strings through the body), saddles, nut, tuner shafts (use 2-3 turns around), string tree etc. All it must be right...

Have you ever boiled your bass strings?

Use ultrasound bath cleaner and any not metal aggressive fat removing solvent. Use reasonable solvent temperature to not fire your house. Will be cleaner and fresher as a new set.

My bass sounds dead, all the time.

Hi Dave, Check your bass bridge plate's contact with a bass body - directly UNDER the saddles! Some 80+% of classic bridge plate designs more or less but have this problem - resulting in dead and resonating notes, reduced sustain, lost attack, boomy and dull tone etc. Some case you can even put...

Rant.. Neutrik Connectors Without 1/4” Connectivity

Loudspeaker jack output is ok for any amp, it can not be shorted if pulled out. The only limit is current (power of amp & impedance of the loudspeaker system) - the temperature of the plug. Another story is at the loudspeaker end of speaker cable because here the jack plug can be accidental...

Why do so many 5 & 6 string players NEVER use their low B?

Most PA systems cut off low frequencies on some 35-40Hz. Open B-string's basic tone is ~30Hz... Open E-string is ~41Hz.

My Jazz Bass has no balls. Help!

Serial connection of pickups is the best electronics upgrade not only for JB. Result is strong signal with full, thick and rich sound/tone, far better as PB tone. One more thing to check is bridge, especially if your bass has strings through body. Try to release these bridge anchor screws a...
