    My first *cough ... build

I'd love to, but I'm not sure where to go. I was referred to Rare Earth Hardwoods by a builder/musician friend of mine, but he said that they seemed a little expensive (his opinion). I had already ordered my materials online from Gilmer Wood Co., and am very happy with their products and prices...

    My first *cough ... build

Thanks to all for the replies and opinions - keep them coming. The width and overall location of the upper horn is definitely the main thing most people I show this to have issues with. To be honest, it looked a little narrow to me when I drew it, but I wanted the horn to flare at the end...

Bandmate angry about my choice in playing style

Sounds like you could use a magic 8-ball. It's full of random answers. And if you don't like what you here you can just give it a shake.

Bandmate angry about my choice in playing style

I'm really not trying to beat a dead horse or piss any one off, but if he knows he's right and the bass player is being unreasonable, then why is he asking what he should do with him? With that kind of knowledge, the obvious answers are to get rid of him or leave the band. I really hope this...

Bandmate angry about my choice in playing style

The main premise that needs to be taken as a given in order to form any kind of a qualified opinion is that the slap bass stuff is in fact, awesome; and that his drummer is off base with his remarks. It might be terrible, might be great, but more likely it would depend on who's listening (no one...

Bandmate angry about my choice in playing style

THAT is funny. You should provide a link to some of your bands music - with and without the slap - so people giving opinions can give constructive criticism based something concrete, albeit still incredibly subjective. That would leave judging of the complex interpersonal relationships of...

    My first *cough ... build

I just realized the other pic of the top I posted was of the 2 outside surfaces of camphor. This looks a little prettier: Pau Ferro - Kung Pao Chicken... got it.

New Build- My Eighth, and a challenge

That's interesting. What's the oldest nut you've made that gets regular use, and how is it holding up? As someone in construction, I have access to scrap Corian all the time. One cutout scrap from a kitchen sink hole would last a lifetime, even for a steady builder.

    My first *cough ... build

It's all about the simple stuff for number 1. I'll hit you up for some advice on a multi-scale for number 2 - if number 1 turns out to be playable that is.:help:

    My first *cough ... build

Bookmatched some camphor burl for the top cap with a beat up table saw and a cordless sawzall. Followed up with a thickness planer and now they just need to be jointed. I'll be using swamp ash for the main body wing core material. I'm still waiting for a Pao Ferro fingerboard to arrive...

    My first *cough ... build

So, short and sweet, I recently joined TB and have been fascinated with much of what I've seen communicated, and have barely scratched the surface. I'm particularly interested in all the building going on, and would just like to say how grateful I am for all the priceless information I...
