My first *cough ... build

So, short and sweet,

I recently joined TB and have been fascinated with much of what I've seen communicated, and have barely scratched the surface. I'm particularly interested in all the building going on, and would just like to say how grateful I am for all the priceless information I have received off of other peoples sweat and kindling.

My name is Jeremiah, I'm from Traverse City, Michigan (about 20 miles south), and I'm looking forward to learning much more about the art of luthiery and hopefully, I'll be able to contribute some useful information someday.

Here's my first pic:

My first build is a variation on a fret saw jig I saw on a couple of threads, along with the obligatory celebratory libation pic.

Not much, but it's a start (the jig).

Cheers!

Bookmatched some camphor burl for the top cap with a beat up table saw and a cordless sawzall. Followed up with a thickness planer and now they just need to be jointed.

I'll be using swamp ash for the main body wing core material. I'm still waiting for a Pao Ferro fingerboard to arrive in the mail so I can do a more complete mock up before making any further design decisions.

It's hard not to get to excited and go to fast. I think (hope) the biggest lesson I learn from this process is how precious patience can be. It's my nature to be a little impulsive...

Let's get drunk!
