Sound City 412 - bass cab or guitar cab?

    Bergantino HD vs Mesa Powerhouse

For what it's worth, I sold my Powerhouse 412 and replaced it with 2 Berg HD210s. The sound is more articulate and attack more immediate. There is a warmth and clarity throughout the range which I find satisfying.

which would be the best cab to pair with the SVT tube head?

I know there's a lot of love for SVT810s out there. I own one. But my paired Fender Rumble 410s are tighter, punchier with a growlier bottom end. They now have the nickname 'giantslayers'.

    Ampeg SVT810 vs 2 x Fender Rumble 410s

That's interesting. I find the cab a little lifeless, even with an EBS head. I might try the GK.

    Fender Rumble Club

I'm told the output stage and platform is identical in both. The pre-amp tubes are the big difference. Apparently it goes like a train. I'd love to try one.

Why not just get the rig (s)! you like and let BL get with the programme?

You'd need to check, but the 410s can be lifted separately

Just to wade in again...the rumble 410 cabs are not heavy and stack beautifully. And yes when played through my EBS head they spank my Ampeg SVT810. Spank it into submission. Band agrees. No contest.

    Ampeg SVT810 vs 2 x Fender Rumble 410s

Ok thanks for this! I am curious to see whether the cab performs better with the 4 pro. Hartke well priced though, even here in Australia

    8x10 vs.....8x10

Now I'm keen to try Hartke cabs! But what I can say is this: My paired Fender Rumble 410s spank my SVT 810. Tighter, punchier and more responsive. There are surprises out there.

You probably need to get away from a combo. I love my Rumble 200 for practice and in an emergency I could gig it with an extension cab. Having said that, my pair of Rumble410s sound great with a separate head.

Well this should make Rumble fans happy: My pair of Rumble 410s just spanked my Ampeg SVT810. They are clearer, louder, punchier, more articulate and more responsive. And tweeters were off!
