Fender Rumble Club

Amp report. I had another band practice and the rumble 100 is just not cutting it. I tried moving the amp around. Closer to walls, up on stand, eqing differently. Used some drive and bumped the high mids and was pounding my bass to cut through, but it worked. The gain was at half and the master at 3/4 and I was afraid to go anymore. We're doing heavy blues, hard rock stuff and the drummer is loud! So i'm gonna need some more power and volume. I had some questions that will hopefully help me decide what to do.

Keeping it in the Rumble family, Im wondering if I sell the 40 and buy another 100 to chain together, if it will be noticeably louder than if I got rid of the 100 for a 200. So breaking it down, 2 100w amps into 2 12" speakers, or 1 140w amp into 1 15" speaker. Which will be louder/handle more? Or is it even going to be a noticeable difference? I feel the 100 really isnt that much of an upgrade over the 40, so is the 200 without an ext cab really that much more powerful than the 100?

I've also thought about getting any cheap loud combo I can to run the 100 into. There is a crate 210 powered cab for super cheap on craigslist, but i'm having trouble getting ahold of the guy. Would something like this work? Using the 100 for tone and a little volume and then effects send into a louder combo/powered cab? Im out of my element with a full on rock band here.
You probably need to get away from a combo. I love my Rumble 200 for practice and in an emergency I could gig it with an extension cab. Having said that, my pair of Rumble410s sound great with a separate head.

Well this should make Rumble fans happy: My pair of Rumble 410s just spanked my Ampeg SVT810. They are clearer, louder, punchier, more articulate and more responsive. And tweeters were off!
We did know this all along, but thank you for the additional confirmation!

Yea, thats kinda how im leaning at the moment. Was debating just adding another combo, but like you said I think getting away from them will be better. Looking at some cheaper options if I can sell my R100. Might have to go away from the Rumble line for my big rig, but really wanting to hang on to my little Rumble 40. It just sounds amazing for acoustic sets or home practice. Thinking Peavey or Acoustic, they seem to be fairly common used around here. Talking to a guy that has an old Acoustic model 813 2x15 cab. I think it might be a PA speaker though? Doesnt want much for it though and hes been using it as a bass cab.

Now wait a minute Linnin, I always thought the r500 head and 2x 210s would be killer, that's why I decided to go that way- but to read Gazbass say his rumble 410s blew away HIS AMPEG 810s? WOW! I only wanted more firepower from the r200c and 210 ext cab and felt the r500 combo alone was not that big of a step up unless I added the ext cab to it. I went the flexibility rout -( thanks Scott Truesdell ). This statement is amazing. I bought rumbles off of blind faith and lot's of reviews and now read that rumbles are giant killers? Man I can read stuff like this all day long especially when it pertains to items I have similar. Whether or not Gazbass's statement are true- I love the sound of the 2x 210s, [1] more cab on the way-my own & new. :D Soon I won't be complaining about volume- but I'll find something else or an excuse to buy MORE gear.:)

@WRM already told us all about the virtues of his Rumble 500 head + twin Rumble 410's and that they were the LOUDest rig he had ever owned. It is a beautiful thing.

They're too big, they're too heavy... Gimme a 15 and either a 1x10 or 2x10, and I'll be happy

This is blasphemy, but I'm thinking of getting the 15 inch extension for the MB10 from Carvin. I can pair it with the MB, or pair it with the 200c.
Another idea is the mod to use the 15 in the 200c as an extension. I wouldn't need the Carvin 15, altho it is VERY light and only $195 atm. The mod would be much cheaper!! and I wouldn't blaspheme!

I wished I could get buy with one cab but outdoor festival venues stuff we got planned calls for backbone.

yeah, I don't do outdoors atm... I may tho, We're talking about playing for some of the veteran activities here in SoCal. We will play for free, maybe have a tip jar, but our expenses should be deductible at least. I did play outside(on a Navy ship back in the day) with a 100 watt Sunn tube amp and a 2x15 tuck n roll Plush cab that worked well in the middle of the Pacific!

My "BL" says my Rumble 100 (+210 extension on another power amp) is "good for practice"... Then he says I need an Ampeg or Hartke combo for a gig.
Something something, my Behringer power amp won't sound good outside of practice.

I can't even... he wants to chase some audiophile unicorn sound? Should I put an Ampeg badge on my Rumble? Crown badge on my Behringer?

Just to wade in again...the rumble 410 cabs are not heavy and stack beautifully. And yes when played through my EBS head they spank my Ampeg SVT810. Spank it into submission. Band agrees. No contest.
