Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

That makes perfect sense, and thank you for the distinction. I didn't think anything crazy was happening where the cab's physical performance was changing, but rather expected that the transformer-introduced harmonics were doing something cool to fill in that area, as you described. Either way...

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

Hey Jim! Yep, your thoughts here line up exactly with my experiences :) This was a cab which I thought I needed to exchange for another one because of the exaggerated mids and not thinking that it had enough low-end extension with 5 string basses. But with the HP2X, suddenly I had massive (yet...

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

I just wanted to circle back and update that I ended up keeping the HP2X and returning the HP2. First off, both amps are absolutely amazing. There isn't a bad choice, so if you are in the market for a Forte and come across a nice HP2 don't lament that it isn't the X. Both amps sound massive...

Online retailers selling B-Stock/Returns as New?...

I think that in general that makes sense. But the bass I returned was an absolute mess of QC issues. I'm honestly pretty far from being a discerning buyer, let alone a luthier, but even I was like "how the **** did this thing leave the factory" immediately upon opening it. I feel like SW...

Online retailers selling B-Stock/Returns as New?...

Just one piece of anecdotal evidence regarding Sweetwater- I once exchanged one Vintera P Bass for another with Sweetwater because the QC issues were awful. A number of cosmetic issues, but also a bunch of issues affecting playability and tone. I noticed a few days later that it was being...

We (Source Audio) released Neuro 3 too early. We're sorry!

SA team, you guys are (and always have been) the best, both in terms of products but especially in the way you interact with customers. We appreciate the transparency, but stuff happens, don't beat yourselves up too much about it. Thanks for all you do. I'll give the new Neuro mobile app a try...

Thinking of assembling a “versatile” bass for recording - Is this a good idea or a “Homer Bass”?

Threads like this always remind me of Leland Sklar's "producer switch". Maybe you should implement one of those with this set up too.

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

I currently am fortunate enough to have both the HP2 and HP2X in my possession for a little while. While I've only tried the 2X a couple of times at home and at a country/rock rehearsal (where I was A/Bing with the HP2), I'm having trouble clearly hearing the differences. I think mayyyybeeeee I...

Just received my brand new HP2 about a week ago. Already putting in for my exchange :woot:

Is the Berg Forte HP too HP?

Good tips, thank you. And good to know about how the wattage gets distributed when running at 2.67 ohms. But I usually run the cabs in isolation, so the Ampeg is potentially getting the full 1200 watt load when running alone. Could you please explain how 2ohm mode distributes the load when...

Is the Berg Forte HP too HP?

Extreme necropost, but seems relevant to the topic here. I just picked up a Forte HP2 which I LOVE. I'm going to re-evaluate my cab situation soon, but currently I have a Schroeder 1x12 (600W 8ohm) and an Ampeg 212AV (600W 4ohm). Since the Forte HP2 is rated at 600W 8ohm and 1200W 4ohm...

    Source Audio C4 as Phaser/Octave/Chorus?

That's awesome. That's basically how I use the Spectrum too. The computer editing software is where a lot of the power of this thing lies, but once you have your 6 presets that you're happy with, then it's basically set it and forget it. Cheers, I think you'll like it a lot!

    Source Audio C4 as Phaser/Octave/Chorus?

I love my H9, and it does almost everything well, but I definitely don't love the synths on it, especially when you're familiar with how good the tracking is on the Source Audio stuff. I basically use my H9 as my "do everything" pedal since I only use a small board, and I supplement it with...

    Spector, G&L, or EBMM

Based on your original premise, are you totally opposed to multi scales? You mention wanting versatile, light weight, and a killer B string. To me, that screams something like a Dingwall NG3.

    Yeah, another headphone amp question...

It doesn't get any easier than the Boss Waza Air Bass. Pricey, but completely self contained, no wires, sounds awesome, and takes only moments to be playing along to spotify/youtube completely silently. I love mine.
