Precision Bass - what's your favorite custom color ?

recently had my '62 refinished (it has been non-original since 73) and was tossing up between Fiesta Red and Sunburst ... went for the Sunburst and now glad I did ... this is what a P really should look like. my luthier did a great job ... what do you think?

SOLD Wal Mk II Custom bass guitar – lined fretless. 1992. Wal case !

OK ... I'm impressed ... Shuker should know what he's doing. I had the early ProBass (?) model years ago (Brand X) ... not the real deal that the Mk 2 became ... always wanted one ...thinking about it!

Double Bass Is my pickup the problem?? PLEASE Help

I think FDeck might be onto something ... happened to me too ... my endpin is a hollow aluminium tube and it acts like a tuned pipe at some notes ... I ended up fitting a cork into it. good luck!

Double Bass AER Amp One VS Amp Two

I have the Amp One for EB, and the iDoubler & Berg cab for DB. Have not used the Amp Two but have read in some reviews that the Amp One is the pick of these two. AER have the BassCube2 (12" coaxial speaker - 500W - mega expensive) for DB (haven't tried that - at A$5.6K who has?). You might like...

Double Bass Magnetic pup - LACE ALUMA P

mjmeche, good point ... I see that in the LACE blurb that the pup is current (as opposed to voltage) drive ... but not sure how that translates to producing (or negating) ground hums ... there is a bit of buzz as I turn the gain up ... it goes away when I touch the pickup though. I haven't...

Double Bass Magnetic pup - LACE ALUMA P

yes ... I'm wondering what others have done to ground the strings ... I'm thinking of brass washers behind the string ball ends soldered to the signal earth (better than a braided wire threaded through the tails I suppose). ... here's a better pic

Double Bass Magnetic pup - LACE ALUMA P

... thought I’d see what the members think of my new magnetic p/up. ... checked my parts draw where I have a collection of discarded P-bass p/ups … but I decided to buy the new LASE ALUMA-P because they are light, cool looking, and they can accommodate 4, 5, and 6 string electrics (so I...

    Double Bass Matthew's ISB Bass

... great looking bass Matthew! (pssst ... Matthew restored my bass in Sydney last year ... a difficult and protracted project ... my old German is now a practical instrument with its great sound preserved ... I highly recommend him for his skill, great care, and work ethic) Geoff P

    P Bass - A String - harmonics and intonation

thks ... I've been hung up on this witness point idea too ... tried a second string retainer to hold the A and D down tighter (does stop rattles) but with or without it still get the A string problem. Pretty sure I have bent the string down over the nut (and saddle) well enough but have not used...

    P Bass - A String - harmonics and intonation

Me again ... sorry for error in my post ... the fundamental note (A) is way sharp, relative to the harmonics found over the 12th and 5th frets. If I use harmonics to tune the A string to D and E strings, then my open A string is way sharp and beats against an A note stopped at the 5th fret on...

    P Bass - A String - harmonics and intonation

Hi I have a tuning problem with a P Bass ('63) which is driving me crazy. Other strings are fine, but the A String harmonics (produced over the 12 fret and 5th fret) are way sharp compared to the open string note ... so far sharp that I cannot use these harmonics to help me tune the bass...

Double Bass How best to reduce speaking length on large flatback

Arnold (if I may call you by your first name). With the strings at 106cms I can comfortably 'pop' the G2 harmonic with my third finger, similarly with D, A and E strings although the E harmonic is hard to reach as it is a further distance over the top bout and also because of the need to not...
