    Epifani 212 UL series 2

I used that cab for years, on a variety of gigs including some very loud settings with no FOH. Huge bottom, clean, clear mids and the desert island cab for me (when I needed something that big). I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't love that cab.* I'd celebrate getting one of them for $250...

Backed out of a committed gig for the first time….man I feel lousy(ish)

I must sincerely apologize, not sure how I got so carried away. Sorry to OP and everybody else.

Backed out of a committed gig for the first time….man I feel lousy(ish)

You seem to have missed my point. My point was that the guy had commited to that specific gig. When I say I am going to do something, I do it. That is a very satisfying way to conduct oneself. Later on it became inconvenient, but I don't think that relieves him of his commitment.

Backed out of a committed gig for the first time….man I feel lousy(ish)

Kids don't need constant attention, though, do they? "Doing right by your child" does not mean constant indulgence. Teaching them to be adults is a big part of raising them and teaching them about personal responsibility is really important, to succesful people, anyway. I realize a lot of...

Backed out of a committed gig for the first time….man I feel lousy(ish)

Is it that big of a deal that the child is going to walk out on a field with a bunch of other kids, before a game that the kid isn't even playing in? It's been a while since I played youth sports. I never cared if my parents came to watch, why would I? They were the ones with all the stupid...

    Nightmare Purchase

These phantom buzz problems can be really hard to pin down. One trick I have had success with is using a cheap Harbor Freight stethoscope, or even a short piece of airline tubing from the pet store, to locate the source of the problem. You can stick one end of the flexible tubing into your...

    Genz Benz amp guide?

Don't forget the big bangers! The GBE series were not class D, but rather full sized heads with massive punch and a very useful feature set. This was the baby of the series, there was at least one bigger model. These things killed if you didn't mind a little more size and weight. You can get...

    heavy handed busy/talented piano player

Miles Davis Prints - Bing - Shopping I bought the keys player I work with this poster. He comes from the Euro classical tradition, endless sixteenths with no rests, no space, just a black page that doesn't swing, doesn't move. It drives me crazy. Unfortunately, he also has the wicked...

Issue with Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0

My Shuttle 9.0 has operated perfectly from day one. Same for my Mesa 800+. Agedhorse and Jeff Genzler should both be on the Mt. Rushmore Of Bass Amplification, as well as the Mt. Rushmore Of Outstanding Customer Service. Both of those fellows clearly take their part of the contract to heart!

How much say does a BL have for where paid rehearsals happen?

OP talks about using a business model for his project, so it might be a good idea to consider how far off into the weeds he has already gotten himself. Two members with no transportation. There is nothing businesslike about that. It is not always fatal, but it is an enormous and totally...

Would you go to a show at a "dry" venue?

There are a lot of advantages to a dry venue. Persons of a certain persuasion, persons like me, will smuggle in a little anyways, but it has to tamp down the idiot drunk problem. Better to push people toward weed, both from the standpoint of the crowd and of the venue operator. Many fewer...

    F Bass Reality Check

I think this is a big part of the upcharge. He is probably using the best fingerboard wood for the fretless basses. He does seem to go a little nuts on the upcharges, though!

    Genzler BA10-2-S2 or Barefaced One10T

The published sensitivity specs are 97dB @ 1w for the Genzler, and 95 (?) for the Bare. It is dicey to compare sensitivity specs from different sources, different measuring procedures can skew the results. I never played a Bare, but I have used one or two BA10-2's for years. They are my...

    Port Calculation Help

The green plot is Emi's suggested tuning of 55 Hz, with two 3" x 6.05" ports for an F3 of 65, F10 in the mid 40's. It handles the low notes a little more easily than the box tuned to 65, plotted in red.

    Port Calculation Help

You could also use two 3" x 4.23" tubes with flared ends to get to almost the same place. The tubes are shorter and have more room to work in the shallow box. I like to use the diameter of the port plus the length of the port minus the thickness of the baffle as the minimum comfortable...
