    G1's 5th build

Another question for you guys. Whiles I was making the guitar I unfortunately dropped it whiles the truss-rod was under tension. This caused a crack in the neck around the 12th fret. This seems to be where the truss-rod is anchored at the non adjustment end. It's a headstock adjusted hotrod. I...

    Question before my first build

You don't need support other than a truss-rod. Truss-rod is not really support, it's about adjustment. You need adjustment if you want control over the action (but I'm sure you know that) :)

Alright, I'm ready to take it apart and start finishing. Really happy with the B and the E on this 36"-34". Link Removed

    Truss Rod Question

No. That statement makes no sense to me. Not sure if I'm missing something...

    Average build time?

Yeah, my first 3 took me six months each, spending on average 7 hours in the workshop a week (best I've done is 2 months). That's 150 odd hours. Of those 7 hours, probably half the time is actually making progress on the guitar. The other half is time spent making jigs, testing jigs...

    G1's 5th build

Pickups and bridges finally arrived :) Link Removed The bass is basically together. Although when I added the single string bridges the head of one of the screws completely broke off. Wasn't even applying that much pressure. Any tips on how to get the remainder of the screw out. Unfortunately...

    Average build time?

I read somewhere it takes a pro 80 hours and an amateur 100 hours. It seems to take me more than 100 hours... On top of that a pro needs to factor in time such as meeting with customers, emails, marketing, etc etc

Okay, I've decided to tidy up the current headstock but leave it as is otherwise. A couple of pics of the progress: Link Removed Link Removed Now just waiting on the pickups and bridge to arrive :)

    G1's 5th build

Okay this is a really old thread, but I've been out of action a couple of years. I started this build up again about a month ago. I'm pretty much on the home straight: - route pups - drill tuner / pot / jack holes - final sanding - finish - final fret prep Quite happy with how it's going...

Thanks. You're quite right, the pickgaurd does require a little more refinement around the lower bout.

    Can somebody identify this wood?

Black - clear burst, matte finish?

Flip it's been almost 2 years without a proper workshop. Just moved into my new house and have a decent amount of workshop space again. I've had guitar shaped pieces of wood gathering dust for a while now. I'm hoping to get going on this bass again shortly, with an aim of finishing it in March...
