    Budget powered speakers?

Don't mean to answer for MnAirHead, but I have been using the Alto SXM112as for a few months and love them! They're size is perfect for the small bars I play and they are plenty loud and sound great! The only thing that bothers me about the monitor is that the inputs and controls are on the back...

Need a powered floor monitor and have a question or two

I use Alto SXM112As for my sound gig and for my band and they are plenty loud for monitors. As 4mal mentioned, as long as you don't plan on going crazy with them, they will get the job done. As long as you're not running any bass or kick drum through them, you should be just fine. They sound...

What's your favorite vocal mic for the money?

Blue Encore 100. From my experience, it requires a little more gain than an SM58, but is much better at resisting feedback, the sound is a lot clearer and more pleasant, its just as durable, and is the same price. It also looks a lot nicer IMO.

Looking to buy some powered monitors for live use

I have been using Alto SXM112As and love them! They are really small, light, and give me more than enough power with some pretty good sound. I have used them for quite a few gigs and have never been disappointed with the sound quality.

Replacement Nut for MIM P Bass

So I recently broke the nut on my P Bass replacing strings and I am in need of a new one. While I have a friend that is willing to replace it for me, I am not sure which nut to buy and would prefer to get one that is already slotted. I have found two that seem right, but even with the...

    active speakers?

At $235, you got them at a total steal! I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I do and at that price, they might even sound a little bit better ;)

buying a new 24 channel mixer

Definitely stay away from the Behringer. Even though its only $310 now, its only a matter of time before it breaks and you're buying another mixer for the band. As long as you can get by with just 2 monitor mixes, the Yamaha MG166CX has served my band really well and even though it only has 1...

    active speakers?

Another vote for the RCF ART 312As. They are an excellent speaker and have never let me down since I first got them (almost a year ago). I have used them both as mains and monitors and while I am not a huge fan of the monitor angle, it is acceptable for most applications. As mains, they have...

    Small PA: Carvin V Yamaha

I would definitely stay away from Gemini. I have not heard the American Audio speakers before, but the Mackie Thumps are a pretty good sounding speaker for their price. For around the same price, take a look at the Alto Truesonic series. While I have not heard them myself, I have seen a lot of...

    Small PA: Carvin V Yamaha

Have you taken a look at powered speakers? I have a pair of RCF ART 312As that sound excellent and will give you more than enough power for the applications than you mentioned. You can find a pair of them for about $800 (which is a steal IMO) on eBay and I promise you that you won't be...

    Improve Keyboard Sound

As the saying goes...You can't polish a turd. If the keyboard doesn't sound good at the source, than it will be nearly impossible to make it sound good at the console. If you can, get the keyboard replaced or experiment with the keyboard itself to try to get a decent sound out of it, but...

Best mixer in the $600 range for live rock band

I have the Yamaha MG166CX, and for the price, it is a pretty good mixer. I never have a problem getting a good sound out of it regardless of the mics and it even makes some great recordings. While the compressors aren't the greatest, they are very simple and get the job done, just keep an eye...

    Sennheiser e835: yes or no?

For $100, I would highly recommend the Blue Encore 100. It is an excellent, very clear mic that for me has required very little eq. I got one for myself, and ended up getting 2 more for the bands I do sound for. They're excellent on vocals and even on guitar! I'm not sure if MF is still running...
