    that first ding

It used to bother me a lot now, I could care less. With me I think it's an age thing. I tend to feel that way about many things that used to bother me. Now, well into my 50's I'm just like ah whatever.

Inlays on bass fretboards? What's considered tasteful?

I mostly just like dots and depending on the bass color and fret board blocks are ok. I really dislike blocks on maple boards. But, who cares what others find acceptable you do you.

Vintera II Roadworn Precision Bass - Damage or relicing?

I have one. The stuff in the pics was done by the previous owner. Mine has none of that and none of the pics I've looked at are not like that. I've played mine a good bit and kept in on a stand the whole time. The only place the nitro has a worn look is by the top carve where my forearm rests...

Why do people do this? Sell things that are not.

Not touching the etiquette debate. But, for the op's original question. I'd bet most people don't know what they have. The person they bought it from might have told them it was a real Fender. We here on Talkbass are bass NERDS while most people even other bass players are not. They're just...

So . . . What color is this bass?

Looks like the modern Fender Ocean Turquoise Metallic to me. I had a Player P in that color.

If you were done with Fender right now, what would you buy at ~$1,500–$1,800?

I'm a longtime Fender fan, but if they continue down this road I will stand by my scruples and never buy a new Fender again. If I buy new again it will probably be Lakland or Ibanez in that price range.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet since my last post but, I just wanted to add that the Mexican model was discontinued last year. Guess it didn't sell very well. I thought it was a good idea but bad execution. The only thing I really liked about mine was the looks and the high mass bridge...

I didn't really like the Mexican Meteora I had. I'm not sure if it shares the same pickups as the US but, the ones in mine were just meh. I've never really liked the Fender pre-amps. The ergonomics were also off to my likes. The first fret felt waay out there compared to a regular P or J that...

    Which FENDER P to buy?

I voted custom shop(gotta live vicariously) but, the Vintera 2 RW would be my second choice. I have the Charcoal Frost one and I love it. It's become the bass I just automatically pick up when I want to play.

Google Gemini AI helps visualize basses with color, pickguard options etc!

And the people that live around these centers are suffering contaminated water and soil along with skyrocketing utility costs.

(Almost) NBD - Fender Precision Player II - Limited Edition

I picked up one of the Moonlight P's late last year. Walked into GC and it immediately caught my eye and after 15min of playing I bought it. Don't know what makes it special but it sounds, feels and plays better than any of the 5 or so Player series I've had. I also put a black pickguard and a...

Real world thoughts on the Fender Vintera II Road Worn 60s Precision Bass??

I would of liked the vintage case with mine. The plastic one actually seems a little brittle and I'm betting would crack if it took a good hit. And, the vintage one looks cool. That's odd with the price. I got mine when they first released, and they were the same price.

When did weight become the top priority in a bass?

When I got into my 50's and my knees and back decided to quit on me. Before that weight didn't really matter. I'm guessing it's the same for a lot of us old dudes.

Real world thoughts on the Fender Vintera II Road Worn 60s Precision Bass??

Mine also developed some fret sprout. Not real bad but noticeable when playing. It's very dry in my house this winter so I'm going to wait it out till spring to see if it gets better. If not it's off to a luthier, because I'm also to much of a wuss to take the files to it. My other two basses a...

Signature Basses / Instruments...yes or no

If it has their name, icon or whatever on the fretboard no. Otherwise, if it has the looks, specs, sound I'm looking for I really don't care whose name is on it.
