I'm kinda obsessed with this bass. It's kinda so ugly it's cool and I'm really liking the Haymaker pickup tone. Am I crazy? (Probably) Thoughts? Opinions?

Anyways, here's a tone demo:

I think they should have ditched the traditional fender headstock for it. But I think the body is beautiful, the color matches the futuristic scheme, and the tonal options are diverse and somewhat unique. I have never seen one in the wild to give it a try, but I would love to give it a go. Kinda reminds me of how diverse the Roscoe Beck tones could be.

I didn't really like the Mexican Meteora I had. I'm not sure if it shares the same pickups as the US but, the ones in mine were just meh. I've never really liked the Fender pre-amps. The ergonomics were also off to my likes. The first fret felt waay out there compared to a regular P or J that I'm used to.
Other than that I think they look cool and mine was well built.

Dude.... If you like the way it plays, feels, and looks, and if you feel the price is right, then quit wondering what other people think of it. We're not in high school, desperately seeking peer approval..... are we?

I'm not sure I'd like the ergonomics with the upper strap button between frets 14 and 15, but it's nice to see Fender do something different, so if it sounds great and has great playability, what the heck? The look would be great for some projects. I'd want it in purple.

That's what I was thinking too.

I like the body styling, but the headstock doesn't go with it.
Something closer to a Backlund guitar would be better. Stick with the Jetsons vibe.

Yeah, the traditional headstock is a mis-match with the body style. The sunburst body doesn't quite look right on a radical body design. I think they would do well to stick with the bold colours.

In the demo, it sounds good. Very thick sounding which would work across multiple styles.

It reminds me slightly of the MusicMan Big AL because of the pointy horns. It will be interesting to see if can make any traction. Or maybe it will be one of those hard to get models along the lines of the Fender Performer Bass in years to come.
