What bass amp do you recommend ?

++1 I would agree those little acoustic are pretty nice little amps for the money they have a cool feature that lets you dial your amp to fit your playing such as gospel growl, to funky slap. I'd check craigslist.com as well you can find some ridicules deals on there. Like 4x10s for a 100 bucks...

    Favorite effect aquisition of 2009?

Im in love with my SWR Mo'bass head, the base is a sweet sounding swr head with some sick features. I got a ridicules tube overdrive, a crazy sub-bass that its all the way pass C. Then the bass synth is straight from Herbie's Head Hunters. A silky sweet chorus that screams Vick with chords. But...

How many watts/cabinets do i need to gig with??

My friend who plays with gospel artists all over the area uses a swr sm-500 with 2x10 cab and a 15 cab, and brings the 15 for the larger gigs. It seems to be really sufficient in the church settings where you got the drummers wailing and the hamond screaming through duel leslies.

    Gospel on a 4 string

5 Strings are really nice, they just open up your options, and makes some bass lines easier by having that b on top, but if you got a 4 you love, just make sure you have the right rig. for example I just got a swr mo' bass head and my 4 sounds incredible in it, even in standard tuning.
