Ashdown d600 (good buy or bad idea)

I’m looking at an ashdown d600 bass amp head that seems to be fairly used from France. I live in America and they can’t ship directly to me but I will use a 3rd party handler to have the music shop send the head to and the handler can ship it to me. If this head were to die on me, do you think...

How do I know what truss rod I need?

Okay I see. So flat-sawn planks are going to have less chance of warping than quarter sawn. Also making sure the grain is parallel with the cut, using three pieces to dry evenly, and even a resin coat would help in this case.I’m assuming maple is going to be more predictable and stable in this...

How do I know what truss rod I need?

So I’m trying to make my own bass guitar which includes making a neck. Already I’m inexperienced and never had to actually think about truss rod length, type, and material but now I need one. The problem is my build is a little unconventional (hence I’m making it myself). The bass is planned to...

    A 1x18 for a 4x10

Well I know of a version vega 1x21 that’s powered with 1200 watts and another folded 1x21 that would need an ungodly 2000-4000 watts. I don’t think 300w tube amp would be enough lol. But channeling the bass frequencies to the sub sounds like a good idea to me

    A 1x18 for a 4x10

So I was thinking it would be a good idea to add a little boom boom to my 4x10 by adding a 1x18, is this a plausible idea? Is there any 1x18 that can live up to modern amps? None of them are exactly new. I heard eden 1x18s are efficient but they don’t have a tweeter so maybe not very good with...

    Thunderbird scale length mod

I figured some frets would have to move. I was hoping to not extend the neck much since thunderbirds like to shift to the left while you sit and play. I believe moving the bridge back might also balance the neck dive a bit more too. I believe 36 should work.

    Thunderbird scale length mod

Well this is not exactly a mod but I was wanting to make a bass with a thunderbird body, however I want it to have an extra long scale of either 36 or 38 for some LOW tunings. This is my question •can I keep the length of the neck the same as stock if I scoot the bridge back and change the fret...

    Separate active and passive electronics?

While on the subject, how do you make the bass signal stereo? I know some basses have mono and stereo, how could I make a pickup stereo?

    Separate active and passive electronics?

I feel this would be especially useful if you play without a guitarist. On one output you could all sorts of affects, and change the eq. With the other output do a completely different sound. Almost like having 2 different players.

    Separate active and passive electronics?

What if you have an active and passive pickup, both with separate controls and outputs in one bass. One single bass that could connect to 2 different cabs with 2 different sounds. Maybe it would be heavy but what would be the problems with this?

Kahler 8 string bass trem bridge?

The company went under. I’d be lucky to find one but things like that do pop up.

Kahler 8 string bass trem bridge?

You’re right, it isn’t kahler. That bass is from a Japanese brand called TUNE which is an unfortunate name to have when trying to find them online. I found a thread about it talking about it’s floating bridge system. I just can’t find it again. edit: I found the page TUNE

What strings does Les claypool use

Does he just use long scale strings on his piccolo scaled bass then? Wouldn’t the strings be too long?

Kahler 8 string bass trem bridge?

It exists, it’s super expensive, and there’s no info about it at all. Is it 8 individual strings, Or is it octaves? If it isn’t octaves, are there any octave bass trem bridges? I know they exist, I just don't know where.
