Good idea. Many college music programs use keyboards for ear training and music theory. Keyboards/piano are also used for learning/developing music composition.

Too much crying in the beer happening in this thread. Squiers and Fenders both are good and have their place in the market. I own both.

I own 4 Fender basses (3 P-basses and one Jazz bass) and 7 non-Fender basses. I play the Fenders 70% of the time, even though I like them all. I prefer the look, feel and sound of my Fender basses for most of the music that I "try" to play. :)
