I am currently listening to Astral Weeks by Van Morrison, and – as usual – I am BLOWN AWAY by the bass playing of Richard Davis.

Jazz Bass (Fender or clone) is my preference, but I can make a good noise with any bass. I occasionally plug in an acoustic/electric to bring the crazy feedback into the mix, but I'm not a very orthodox player.

I have no idea how this thread is allowed to continue. I don’t want to seem as if I am questioning the moderators, but some of the people responding to this thread have been down right mean spirited, and in my opinion have violated rule number one.

I've been impressed with the DigiTech HardWire DL-8; I think it meets all of your needs, and it has an analog simulation.

Thanks. I knew there had to be some reason, otherwise at least a few famous players would be doing it. The bronze strings sound very rich on the acoustic bass (richer than nickel or stainless steel). Anyway, I'm not going to waste my money. Thanks again.

I put some D'Addario Phosphor Bronze acoustic bass strings on my acoustic bass a few weeks back, and they still sound great (bright, warm and full). I was thinking that the next time I restring all my basses I would try them on one of my electric basses as well. Has anyone tried this before...

It seems that there are those who believe that even if they replaced all of the electronics, and hardware, slapped on a new neck, changed out the body, and replaced the strings, an SX would still be inferior to any other bass simply because it is an SX. Good for them.

Are you suggesting that sadowsky players are compensating for something? That's not cool.
