    Gibson Thunderbird players

Yeah, yeah, I know ... but this post came up in my search results so I feel an OCD need to correct it. :) Nigel also played an ESP Thunderbird that was a kind of metallic pink. Pete also played natural, black, and white Gibsons - and latterly claimed to prefer Epiphones. He was last seen...

What do Thunderbirds actually sound like??

It's not called a Thunderbird for nothing ... personally, I think the look, feel and comfort of it (neck dive = nonsense :) ) encourages a fellow to play it in thunderous fashion, thus unavoidably producing a rolling, meaty sound with sparks on. Truly a sound to eat raw chillis to. I can...

Anyone that might be interested, Thomann UK are offering a "b stock" sunburst Classic Pro (probably a return) for £302 with free shipping ... about fifty quid off RRP. Invalid Link Removed

Good man! I know what you mean about the similarity to the Explorer - I have an old Epi Explorer which is a lot comfier than I'd thought. I put that down to many years of T-bird playing. The Explorer is even longer than the T-birds, which is a bit of a piglet for transporting it around...

    Thunderbird Club Pt.7

Aye, they would be good if there was enough space between them so they didn't bump into each other! :hmm: Apparently they were changed by an over-zealous roadie immediately prior to a gig and never got sorted out. Not a huge problem, just requires a bit of to-and-fro with the D and G strings...

Oh yeah, and for future reference, the pickguard on the Classic is the same size and shape as on my 1990 Gibson and Pro-IV active. But bigger than the one on the Blackbird (and presumably other bolt-on Epis).

Oh, and while I'm on Photobucket - a couple of gratuitous Pete Way pix taken by me. The first is at Glasgow Barrowland on the reunion tour, and the other two at London Town & Country Club (Laurence Archer on gtr) back in 1992 or so ...

Basshappi - just do it. :) Out of interest, you can get LH Tokai Thunderbirds ... I know because I bought one for my son. It seems solid enough. Meanwhile, I posted recently about the Blackbird I took possession of recently. Well, here it is ... ...and with my other two ...

Thunderbird Owners - What case do you use?

As above - all Epi cases can't be the same. I bought one off eBay for my Pro-IV. There's less than half an inch headroom at the headstock end, a bit tight for my liking. But there's around an inch and a half at the other end (in the fitted bit). Moving everything along a bit would sort it out...

    A genuine question for bassists...

I work full-time protecting the environment. I get paid just enough so that, after family expenses are taken care of, every so often I have enough extra cash to get myself a new bass or cabinet or whatever to keep myself entertained. Hence, the Thunderbirds are multiplying. :) As long as I...

Very nice, HyperSoul. :) In other news, I just took possession of my new Epi Blackbird toy. £150 off eBay, in pristine condition. Initial impressions are that I rather like the single sound available - seems well-rounded and reasonably powerful. I always do any sound-tinkering on my amp...

Thanks ... looks a bit wierd with the P split pickup, interesting to know what it is. Those Jacksons are fine looking beasts. There aren't many headstock shapes that fit the overall design and shape, but I do believe the pointy Jackson one doesn't look out of place.

    Thunderbird Club Pt.7

Aye, very good. I was hoping for a response or two from people with a sense of humour. ;) Meanwhile, anyone know what that T-bird that Mr Sixx is playing in the Youtube vids from the Moscow Peace Festival is? May be on Wild Side or GGG, don't recall now. Looks an ivory kind of colour with...
