I put some super glue on my upright about once a year on the spot where my thumb comes back to when playing slap. It won't cure your problem but will help keep you from plowing any further into the wood.

I've done this myself with my bw 15 and it really is a 5 minute job. Follow aged horses advice to make certain the gap for the voice coil is clean of all debris and have at it. Basket replacements for the bw series are all over eBay.

I just picked up a fretless precision bass built by luthier Dan Erlewine in the early 2000's (Stew Mac and Dan are both located in my town), and while I've identified a number of parts on this bass, I'm having trouble with the pickups. Either TB or my phone is giving me issues posting pictures...

I picked one of these up used as a back up a few weeks ago. I generally run Ampeg gear so I'm still getting the hang of the tone stack, but I wanted something different to play with anyway. Lots of good info here on settings for b/m/t got me most of the way there, and yeah, I'm really digging...

yeah, you're looking for a Ford econoline passenger van or its equivalent. I have a 96 club wagon (same thing really) that could easily haul my 810 with head, 2 412 with head, 5 piece kit and 4 hardcased guitars with plenty of seating. As that band just broke up, I'm looking to downsize.

I had a Schecter Stargazer strung with Roto 66s that could get really, really close to that 2112 Geddy sound. They look fairly Ric like, but not as intense. Very comfy, smooth thin neck and easy on the wallet for what you walk away with.

Finally said to hell with light weight, brokedown and picked up my Ampeg 810. Couldn't be more pleased.

Yup, that's the American Special model as folks above mentioned. I have one and dig it, very different feel than my American Standard. The $750 is way too high unless its brand spamming new and feels like "the one" when you pick it up. I grabbed mine for under 500.

I've been running my pf350 through a single 15 as my gigging rig for a three piece punk band for almost 2 years now, and its never let me down. Super Ampeg tone with an almost effortlessly load in and out factor. So, yeah. I'm with you.
