For you guys who mainly play 5ers and 6ers.

I prefer 6 stringers, but I do keep a fretted 4 string bass around that is strung with flats and tuned to fifths (from lowest up: CGDA). Also the 4 stringer was my first bass and I refuse to get rid of it.

    6 String Acoustic Bass Set

So, recently I've been given the opprotunity to buy a 6 string acoustic bass. Naturally, before I buy anything I have to do a bit of research, and a question arose. Where can I find a set of 6 strings for an acoustic? I went to juststrings, and they only had one set from TI, and that set was...

What color pickguard for jazz bass?

I've always been a fan of the abalone shell guards.

Can I do this?? Push/Pull knob question.

If you want to pay a rather large sum of money, you could always aquire the M.E.C. stacked volume/blend. That would allow the tone to be placed next to it and have it push/pull or otherwise. It would be more expensive, but it would allow you to keep the bass without extra holes.

    Recomend a cheap 5 string

If you're looking for a cheap bass that is replaceable all day long, there's always the SX brand. Sure they aren't the greatest, but after a setup, they play perfectly fine and do the trick.

Pretty sick of ordering 250k CTS pots

you could always buy precision (not the style of bass) potentiometers. Those typically are made to have a tolerance of 1 to 5 percent. They do cost a bit more though.

SOLD FS/FT: Line 6 Black Variax 705 Bass

They are fun, and they definately have a wide range of sounds. I find that to get the exact tone you need occasionally you have to switch your style up a bit. Take the rickenbacker sound as an example, I find you can't get the exact right tone out of it without using a pick.

HELP Warwick Or Ibanez - wich one would you get???

Between the two basses you mentioned I'd go for the Ibanez, simply because it has a 3 band eq. Personally, though, if I had $800 - $850 I would spend it on a different style of bass. Used is a great way to get alot of bass for a little money.
