Someone mentioned tone... I think that's what I DON'T like XD. I love a bass that has a grumbly, terriflying, deeper than the depths of Hell kind of sound. Maybe it's a genre thing? I play Black Metal. I guess I can see value in a Fender for Classic Rock... Like, weak, cute, poppy classic rock :P.

Am I the only one that can't stand Fender? I have played multiple Fender basses of different production levels and can't stand the way they sound. I don't know what it is, but I just don't like Fender, I don't even like their guitars. I just feel like I'm the only one haha.

Thanks everyone for the input. I did research this bass before I bought it, auction or not. I wasn't going to pay anything for a bass that didn't play well, so I know this bass has potential to be pretty epic. I think I'll go with a medium string, I'm sold on the DR black beauties now...

Thanks for the tip on strings. The DR DDT or Extra-Life strings sound like they would be pretty solid options for me. Should I go with a heavy? I always figured if I play metal I 'll need a heavy string, but I'm quickly learning that's not always so.
