Got my strings through from Naked the other day. I'm impressed so far, they feel far stiffer and smoother to touch than my Pro Steels, and even my DR's. I'm going to test them out in a band mix tonight in rehearsal.

George Anderson Jr. from Shakatak (the UK jazz-funk band) used an L2000 along with a Stingray in the early '80s. Listen to the 'Night Birds' album in particular.

For Japan, most would say 'Tin Drum', which was their last album before they split (until they reformed in the early '90s for the 'Rain Tree Crow' album). I'd go with that and 'Gentlemen Take Polaroids'. He's worked with loads of other people as a session player/collaborator so there's plenty...

'Swing', 'Methods of Dance' and 'My New Career', from Gentlemen Take Polaroids spring to mind initially. Amazing songs driven by Mick's basslines.

I'm waiting on my sets to come through in the next couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to it as I've not tried nickel plated strings before. I've constantly swapped between DR Hi-Beams, D'addario Pro Steels, Elites and Rotosounds' and not settled on anything yet, so it can't hurt to try them on...

Interesting. I might be wrong then, I just remember reading somewhere that he'd used a Stingray. Saying that, I've only ever seen him recently with his Precision Bass. I'm not sure what he uses for Ronson's new material though, which I guess requires less of a 'vintage'/soul vibe.
