    Peavey Max portability vs. power?

I have the Peavey Max 1x15. Still very portable. But its plenty loud and powerful enough for most needs. At 300 watts for $299. I would recommend it if your looking into the Max series.

    Epiphone vs Fender

Cool. yeah the Korean Epi Lp's from the 90's are pretty awesome. They are getting harder to get ahold of.

cab issues. farting out / speaker problems ?

take the grill off your cab. gently push each speaker back and forth. if it easily moves, its fine. if it feels really stiff, you have a blown speaker. If thats not the case. maybe its the gain structure. However, 9o'clock sounds like a pretty reasonable setting so I doubt thats the case. Hope...

    Epiphone vs Fender

The Fender will cover more genres. Good choice on the Hartke LH! I also have a LP bass, Think mines like an 04 model.

Do you play a bass just because your favorite bassist plays the same model?

kinda hard not too for me, because I have so many favorite players that play so many different types of basses.

New bassist - played a bunch of amps today - what am I looking for?

Hartke LH1000 IMO gets about any tone you want from clean and punchy to those fat 70s bass tones

Any permanent guitar-to-bass converts out there?

I became a bass player by default. Started playing guitar in my teens. After I got good at it I started trying to form bands with my friends. There were always alot of really great guitarists around our age, but we never could find a bass player who could play the type of music we were playing...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Stage is too small for my big rig. So Im breaking out my old Fender 400 Pro and no-name "Punisher" cab this weekend. Have had this thing forever, and havent used it in a long time. Was my first "real amp." Prolly play my Les Paul Bass or my "Frankenstein" P/J Bass.

Dumb CL Ad's pt 5, Dumbester and Dumberest

Actually found my current band on craigslist 3 years ago. I went there expecting a bunch of jokers, but turns out they were really cool guys and we were on the same page. Since then we've played alot of shows, opened up for a few national acts, and recorded and wrote an albums worth of songs. I...

Bizarre things people say during practices

every new song idea gets followed by, "(insert name here) called, they want their riff back" Or, could you play sorta that same thing again, except this time, make it not suck?

    Why did I go see....?

cant beleive im saying this because ive always been a fan. I wish I didnt see the Misfits in 2012. I actually HAD to go because they were playing the venue where I worked as a stage manager/ monitor engineer. I was really excited to work the show. Their crew was really cool. I worked really...

How do you buy equipment when you are starting out?

Cut grass for almost 3 months to buy my first rig (Yamaha BB300 bass and an old Peavey TNrT). kept buying more stuff later on. Once I accumulated a good collection of cheap gear I traded it all off at a music store for one decent rig.

Dumbest thing I've ever been told at a gig. Ever.

Sat in with my buddies cover band for a night while their bassist was having surgery. Played alot of 60s and 70s stuff. The last set was mostly electric-era Dylan that I had rehearsed and played with them for the first time the night before. After the show, my best friend walked up to me and...
