Actually found my current band on craigslist 3 years ago. I went there expecting a bunch of jokers, but turns out they were really cool guys and we were on the same page. Since then we've played alot of shows, opened up for a few national acts, and recorded and wrote an albums worth of songs.Seriously.........who starts a band on craigslist??
Normally, you pick up folks who are dissatisfied in other bands or are better than the folks they are currently playing with.
Can anyone give us a sucessful story of a band starting from a cragslist ad??
I've been playing bass in working rock bands for 22 years, and recently spent about a month
checking out talk0bass0.0com (remove the zeros) If ten percent of the posters on that site
(all of whom claim to be experts) can even tune a bass, I'll eat my shorts.
If you really want to learn how to play the bass (rather than how to play the role on the Internet
while you hide in your bedroom) I suggest that you find a forum that requires people to identify
themselves publicly, so that their claims can be checked out. (Who ever heard of a real musician
hiding their identity?) The rest are run by greedheads who are a lot more interested in making
money than helping you become a better player.
Good luck!

Hey you idiot bass players what the heck? (NE PDX)
What the heck is your problem? The bass is not a wank around toy that you play a bunch of stupid notes on. You don't make a bass run every four bars. You don't muck it up with 8th notes and 16th notes. You don't create melodies and you don't take leads. Every bass player wants to over play their stupid instrument. Sorry, dork but that isn't your function in a band. YOU LAY DOWN A SOLID FAT REPETITIVE GROOVE AND YOU DON'T EVER DEVIATE FROM IT. NOT EVEN ONCE. I am so tired of playing with dork bassists who know "how" to play but have no idea "what" to play. You dorks murder songs with your stupid notes and licks and runs. The bottom falls out of a song and everything just dies. Stop it! You embarrass yourselves. Find the pocket and stay in it. If it is too boring for you then take up lead guitar. Stop wasting everybody's time and ears.

Seattle area in general is loaded with horrible horrible bass players. It's like the Detroit of bass, and now they have to pay us 15 bucks minimum even though we suck!![]()
Dammit, I'm underpaid. I only got 14 bucks last time out.
My old van cost me $300 initially. I over paid. Shoulda got the $500 van. Another failure on my part.
