What are the uses and functions for bass compressors? And also, how does it affect the tone of your bass? And what brands/types of compressors do you guys use/recommend?

I just hear a loud hum, or everytime I try to move around and the cable moves around near the jack part, it gives off a crackling sound. Then after that just a loud humming sound. And no, it's still the original output jack, though it seems like it's loose.

Does anyone know how to fix this when this happens?

Cool, thanks for the replies! So it's a matter of preference and the location of your input jack. Gonna get me one of those straight to angled cables then!

Cause I've noticed in online music stores the cables that are always sold out are the straight to angled ends and the cables that have straight to straight ends are always in stock.

What are the pro's and con's of an instrument cable with straight to angled ends as opposed to straight to straight ends?
