    Ampeg PF500/PF350

ok, i tried it with the 2-10 cabinet and it was horrible at any kind of volume. then...for some reason i decided to try it with the little ampeg av2-10 cab that goes with the micro svt...sweeeeet ! the cabs are only 200 watts but 8 ohm so you could use 2 of them and get the max wattage out of...

    Fender vs Marshall

keep in mind that marshall has never had much to offer in any bass amp attempts. theyre known for their guitar amps almost exclusively. fender however, made the first horizontal electric bass (as far as ive ever heard). they never hit it huge with their bass amps but they have much more...

Listing of (mono) heads that will do 2 ohms

ive heard plenty of times that a tube amp can generally handle a 2 ohm load safely but solid state amps are risky unless specifically stated on the back. you can smoke a transformer !

how does acoustic compare to ampeg?

well, you gotta take the good with the bad. theres not much worse than hauling an svt after a gig, but theres definately nothing better than playing thru one ;)

Another 'what amp' for a newbie?

the acoustic cabinets are pressboard rather than plywood. that is going to seriously effect the sound and durability...just a heads up. theres a reason theyre that inexpensive. i had the acoustic 4-10 and 1-15 and gave them to my rhodes player cos they didnt do low end worth a damn. i opened one...

Another 'what amp' for a newbie?

"solid-state technology has advanced tremendously since the 80's and 90's. The argument of solid-state vs. valve is almost obsolete anymore since you can obtain a nice warm and punchy sound with volume, without hefting around 80 lbs of amp." im sure youre right on that one but i just havent had...

Good Brands at a Good Price.

...effects arent very necessary in the scheme of things, especially if youre just learning the bass. think of it like buying a car...youd rather get a good car than a crappy car that has shiny stuff all over it and bells/whistles ! i use a sweet bass, an excellent cable, and plug it straight...

Good Brands at a Good Price.

personally, id say spend $900 on a good Fender P-bass (used) because theres no amp on the planet that can make a crappy instrument sound like a good one...get a good bass ! a precision bass is the very first electric, horizontal bass guitar. you cant go wrong with a fender precision bass. try an...

Another 'what amp' for a newbie?

i will always say "a '70s SVT" but thats way heavy and pretty costly. i will say that a '70s ampeg v4b will last so long that your grandkids will be playin it, and the sound is amazing! its regarded as a more preferred pre-amp section than even the mighty SVT...that is completely debatable of...

anyone own an ampeg isovent cab ?

...some help on this one please :) :hyper:

why should i not buy this today?

the 8 ohm cab isnt going to do very well (volume) with a head that puts out 300 watts at 4 ohms. aaaannd they dont make ampegs like they used to :)

anyone own an ampeg isovent cab ?

i play a '73-'74 svt thru an early '90s fender custom shop rumble bass 4-10 cab, which is super awesome. BUT i recently acquired an ampeg svt50 pro isovent cabinet, i have wanted one for quite a while. its a bit trashed cosmetically so im making it a restoration project. i opened it up and the...
