Don’t tell me that 70s P is now amazing

Oooooooooooh oh oh oh... I actually recently bought a '97 Fender American Standard Jazz that I found on Craig's List. It is by far one of the nicest basses I have played on. It can get deep and mean and bright and cheery. Feels and plays like a dream. I have read that '97 was a year that Fender...

Differences in Fender American Jazz basses

I went with the '97! Looks and plays great! I had a friend do a set up for me. When he took off the pick guard it looked like someone spilled cola on it as it was caked underneath. Other than that, it's a great bass. This pic is from before the clean up.

Differences in Fender American Jazz basses

Well, I called Fender & spoke to someone in customer support. He informed me that the biggest (and possibly only) difference between the '97 American Standard and the '04 American is that the '04 has the S-1 feature on the Volume 1 pot. So, now my question is, what is the preference regarding...

Differences in Fender American Jazz basses

Hey folks. I am hoping that some of the Fender specialists can read and respond to this. I have 2 basses that are available for me to purchase this week, and I am stumped. They are a '97 Fender American Standard Jazz Bass and a '04 Fender American Jazz Bass. I tried looking up the info through...

    Zeta Crossover EUB SN Location

Hey folks. I was hoping someone could help with this. I have a Zeta Crossover EUB that I purchased in 2004. I am trying to locate the serial number but do not seem to be having any luck. There is nothing on the back of the head stock nor in the electronics casing. Anyone know where Zeta kept the...

    New Bass Day!

I just picked up this beauty at Kebos Bass Works (Kebos Bass Works) in NJ! Kevin was awesome with contacting me immediately and accepting another bass as part of a trade-in. This is a '08 Fender American Standard Precision. Very pleased with it. I will be gigging with it tomorrow night.

    "Rounding Out" my tone

I appreciate all the input with tone possibilities. Getting rid of the Markbass isn't an option at this time. It has a lot more personality and character than what has been mentioned. I was using an ESP Power Cable to power the head. When I switched to a regular power cable, it took away a lot...

    "Rounding Out" my tone

Hey TBers. I have been asked recently about trying to "round out" my tone when on stage. They would like a warmer, fuller tone going through, like a classic Motown feel P bass sound. I currently use an '89 G&L SB-1 (which is technically a P bass) with a Markbass Little Mark III head and the...

Markbass F500 vs Little Mark III

I own a LM III and LOVE the tone from it. I went from using a Hartke 2115 for 20 years to a GK Backline 600 over a GK 4x10 cab for a little over a year to the LM III with a 102P & a 121 T Traveler cabs. World of difference. The warmth that the VPF adds is just amazing.

How to connect these 2 cabinets

I can understand it was a genuine question. Plus, I can understand why there would be any doubt, especially when it comes to any extra cost. The only cable I ever paid for was the EVS power cable, and that was at 1/2 price. Otherwise, the Speakons and the Planet Waves I received for free. I am...

How to connect these 2 cabinets

Completely sure. my friend, who is a skilled audio technician (not some basic bar sound guy, but an educated and trained audio technician who has worked on some SERIOUS projects), gave me the Planet Waves cable when I first got the MB. He was using it on his rig. He then built me the Speakons...

How to connect these 2 cabinets

I use the Markbass little Mark III Head with the Traveler 102P & Traveler 121 cabinets for the last 2 years. I usually connected both cabs to the head with a Planet Waves & a generic 1/4 inputs. I JUST THIS WEEK discovered that I can tandem the head to the 102, then the 102 to the 121 with...

    Possible Markbass cabinet repair

I do have a 17 month old. I believe that we may have collected some rocks from a hike when I had a gig, set them in her stroller, set the stroller on my amp in the truck to drive home and the rock fell out of the stroller and into the cab. Can't wait to get home to see if that was the actual...

    Possible Markbass cabinet repair

Thanks folks. I was able to take the cones out and lo and behold, there was a rock in the cabinet! I put the cones back in and made sure to tighten the screws so they do not come lose. I will play through the cabinet this evening to see if there is any more buzzing. Praying that was the only...

    Possible Markbass cabinet repair

Hey folks. I am wondering if anyone is familiar with the Markbass 102 P Traveler cabinet. I started hearing a buzz from the speakers when playing in the lower register yesterday. I play through a Little Mark III head and can assure you I never go past 12:00 on either the gain or volume. I am...
