    Older Schecter Model T Bass

Okay, I just picked this one up yesterday. It's a used 2011 Model T. Excellent condition! And the plastic is still on the pickguard. She's no lightweight, weighing in around 10. lb., 2 oz.! But I had a 4" wide black Italia leather strap sitting around and even with my bad back, it's not...

    Older Schecter Model T Bass

Man, I was a bit worried about whether or not I'd like the yellow, but yours looks fantastic. Now I'm looking forward to it's arrival!

Great pic, and the bass looks cool as well!

    Older Schecter Model T Bass

Ha ha!! Well, I just snagged one that might have been your old one! It IS the yellow, which isn't my favorite; but the price made me think "What the heck, it's worth a shot". Got it from G.C. so if I don't like it I can always return it within 30 days. Just ordered it today, so I don't have...

    Older Schecter Model T Bass

Anybody have any experience with the 2011 (or thereabouts) Schecter Model T Research model basses? I know recent Schecters get pretty nice reviews, but I've never owned a Schecter. Tons of other basses, but never a Schecter. Insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

Flats question about stiffness and E string clarity

I like all of the flats you mentioned I like all of those brands you mentioned, and never had any problem with E-string clarity. And I'm very picky about my E-string especially. I use the same gauges as you. I will say that I do NOT like Chromes until after they've been on for about 6 months...

Deadening just one string in a set - LaBella Low Tension Flats

Put a piece of foam under just the G string. Like many bassists do under all the strings, but cut a smaller piece to fit under just the G.

Suggestions on flatwounds for my Jazz bass

If you're looking for flats with a bite, try Chromes. They're pretty bright right out of the pack. Personally, I like them much better after they've been on about 6 months, then they seem to last forever. But unlike you, I don't like real bright flats. My favorite flats are DR Legends...

I have 2 sets of strings and just one bass

The Chromes sound excellent. But only after they've been on the bass for several months. Of course this is just my opinion, but I used them for many years. They just get better and better the longer they're on the bass. But for ME, they're too bright initially. Turning down the tone knob...

fender american original 60s jazz vs vintage II 66 jazz who win?

The dark dots on the face of the board don't bother me at all. I kind of like them. But for me, I do like to reference the side dots. I wish I had known when you sold the original pickups!! Maybe I'll try the Lindy Fralin's or Lollar's for my other Jazz.

fender american original 60s jazz vs vintage II 66 jazz who win?

I've never played the AV II '66, but I do own the AO '60s Jazz. I've probably owned at least 15 Jazzes over the years and the AO '60s is the best-sounding Jazz I've ever owned. I really wish they still made those Pure Vintage '62 Jazz Pickups. If they did, I'd get some for another Jazz I...

    Blue Boy

Ha ha!!! I always wondered what I'd look like with the bald look. If I knew it would pull women THAT good-looking I'd go for it!!! Thanks for the laugh!! It actually looks like my son up in New Jersey!

    Blue Boy

I recently picked up this Sonic Blue semi-hollow Jazz. My good friend Mike Stoker is a respected Memphis tech/luthier who is now doing custom builds. Nice warm tone as you'd expect from a semi-hollow. At 75, I sure didn't need another bass, but this one definitely hit my "hot button"!

    NBD - Fender Sting P-Bass

I was just about to suggest a black pickguard for it. The Aged Pearloid also looks really nice, but I think I'd prefer black. Kinda' like something similar I used to have.

Which DR strings for my 4-string Stingray with neck status?

I have DR Legends (flats) on one of my HH StingRay Specials. I have T.I. Jazz Flats on my other one. They both sound really good. BUT... If I'm really rockin' out and digging in hard I prefer the Legends because of the higher tension. The Legends also sound good on the mellower stuff. The...
