Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

Sure, but some instruments are better suited than others for specific purposes. I prefer acoustic bass for straight ahead Jazz. Sonny Rollins does not. My 1924 Conn New Wonder is better for ballads than my 1973 Selmer Mark VI. But the Vi flies and the NW is a challenge for fast bebop...

Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

Sure, and your cat could walk across the keybed of the $200,000 Bosendorfer I just played in Vienna and sound good! I've played keyboards (starting with Hammond Organ) since 1969, sax since 1973 but guitar & other string instruments for only about 18 months. I do want a Jazz archtop; better...

Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

Well, it's speced to his requirements. In the sax world, you wouldn't play like Paul Desmond on David Sanborn's mouthpiece. As to piano, they vary a lot, actually. Some, like a Fazioli or Bechstein, are particularly well suited for Bill Evans-type playing, for example.

----> I see that this is a Joy Division / New Order bassist's clone. Would this nevertheless work well for what I play, Jazz? thanks...

Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

It may come down to that. Really, all I (a saxophone player dabbling in strings these days) need is the Rondo Music offering (Brice) that is unavailable. I'd take the bigger form over the less wide neck (Squire). My fingers reach from C to Ab and sometimes even A on piano.

No, you are correct. Where is Ryan Rukavina?

Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

You are correct, not wrong. Ill fitting instruments are not just uncomfortable, but potentially harmful. My Conn New Wonder alto sax (100 year old ergos) caused me a ganglion cyst. Not a bad idea you have, but part of it is travel. I am on an Amtrak with 8 instruments and it was not easy to...

Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

At 6'6", I'm quite used to exceptional difficulties, and I always overcome them. There's always a way.

Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

Who knows when that might be? I'm on the Amtrak and can barely get a signal! I would like one immediately since I'm going to LA for the winter and could not bring my Fender 5 string Jazz bass. I did bring 8 instruments on the train, which has proven somewhat problematic....!

Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

The Squire 6 string short scale has a nut of about 1.685" .... The Brice (Rondo) has a 2 1/8" nut, but none are available and they don't know when they will be. The Eastwood (also a 2" nut) is also unavailable. The latter two are the only ones I've found that are all 3 things: 2" nut, 6...

Double Bass How important is Scale Length? Pros? Cons?

Thank you for that insight! That saves me from their bass. Not that there is anything wrong with their concept, but I'd prefer acoustic emulation. I play various wind synths; none of them sound remotely like a saxophone, and the VST & modeling efforts (which DO try to emulate) fall far short...

Double Bass How important is Scale Length? Pros? Cons?

My first bass purchase (just a few months ago) was a 2008 Fender American Jazz (electric) bass. It has issues with fret buzzing and a luthier installed 7 new frets; I had to "unleash" the truss rod myself (quite the chore but it happened). It STILL has fret buzz on the 7th fret, so maybe...

Double Bass How important is Scale Length? Pros? Cons?

That's definitely something to consider. When you say "precision," do you mean Fender Precision Electric Bass?
