    Best EL34's for HD-130?

Hey guys. Just an update. My local (well respected) MM engineer told me that he wanted to put KT77 valves in my HD 130. He said they where warmer sounding then the EL34 and better for bass.

Changeing the stock the required resistance (ohm) of a tube amp

Hey that might be a good idea... I'm takeing my Musicman to a tech soon. But I actually have my eyes set for a Hiwatt dr 103, 100 watts. I hope the seller is in for an amp switherooo. But I really don't think so. The dr 103 runs in 4 ohms. How are those with bass? Any experiences with it...

What's the most worthless gear/bass you paid for?

A LAB L-4 amp. I thought i had made a scoop, giving only 200 dollars for it. But it sounded like absolute C-R-A-P. Sorry LAB fanboys - but you know i'm right... I tried it only once with my band and sold it after a couple of weeks. It sounded like a cardbord box with a rubber band in it -...

Changeing the stock the required resistance (ohm) of a tube amp

Hey Mohawk. I'll consider that. And yes you are right. I want to use it with my ampeg svt 410 hlf. Daern it, I should have bought B410 HLF it runs in 8 ohms i believe... Thanks!

Changeing the stock the required resistance (ohm) of a tube amp

Hey thanks a lot for the replys. It's actually a 1980s Hiwatt build for guitar - works okay for bass. I haven't been able to find much info about it on the interwebs. The impedence selector only has 8 or 16 ohms. It has a overdrive stage - thus the name Lead 100 i guess. I read some where that...

Changeing the stock the required resistance (ohm) of a tube amp

Hello fellow bass nerds. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the required resistance of a vintage tube amp? I know it's a long shot and that fiddeling with your beloved amp is a bad idea - in most cases. Does any of you have experience with such a procedure? Peace! Jeppe Copenhagen...

    Best EL34's for HD-130?

Hey everyone. Thanks for the info. I just got a MM HD 130 and i tested it with my ampeg SVT 410 HLF running in 4 ohms. When I set the amp in high mode it started to "clip" at low volumes. It sounded like a high pitched clipping noise. I then ran the amp in low mode and i actually couldn't...

Specs and info on the LAB series amps

Hey. I recently bought a LAB L4 200 watt amp (cheap). I wan't to buy a new cab probably an Ampeg SVT 4*10 HLF and i need to know what impedence the amp was designed for. I believe it was "bundled" with a 2* 15" cab originally - propably running at 4 ohms. I believe the LAB's where produced...

Reroute Ampeg 4*10 HLF cab for higher resistance

Yeah i know... I'm just not shure about what impedence the amp was designed for. Some people write 8 ohm and others 4. But if i could test it out with different cabs i might be able to hear it. With the "destroying that cab" somment, i ment to open it and rewire it. But thank's for the heads up.

Reroute Ampeg 4*10 HLF cab for higher resistance

Hey thank's for the quick reply. Nice of you guys! Looks like i need to test the amp out rather then destroying a good cab. Guess ill drag my amp down to the local music shop and test it out on a 4 ohm cab. I Found L4 cheap so it's mostly a "fun" buy... Sadly theres not much info on it on the...
