Church wants to pay band members

I think that paying church musicians is one if the more important places a church can spend money. The more groove there is leading worship, the more effective worship will be. More effective worship will encourage more people to attend, get involved, become believers, and become serving...

    Used Fender MIM or Carvin

Thanks. My current situation is I use a fretless Carvin exclusively. I love it; but, often wish I had a fretted bass. I have decided to move toward the MIM to increase the audio variety between my basses - and its less expensive.

    Used Fender MIM or Carvin

Which is better? Used Fender MIM 5 string or used Carvin LB20 5 string w/2 band EQ and SP2 Humbucker Pickups?

    OBP-3 Pots

The NTBT-2 is vol-blend-treble-bass. It does not have a gain control on the preamp itself if that is what you are getting at. Also, unlike Yorke, the sound quality from from my obp is good. Yorke, please let me know if the 500k pot helps.

    OBP-3 Pots

500k seems to be the highest ohm volume pot available. And if I understand all the replies correctly it doesn`t appear that the blend or eq pots could be the culprits. The pup height is good. Does anyone have any other other thoughts on a solution?

    OBP-3 Pots

I just installed an OBP-3. The bass has Bart 69js installed. The sound is good but I lost a lot of volume. The pup spec says to use a 250k volume pot. The volume pot I used is a 500k pot. Is the wrong volume "K" value the problem? What is "k"? Does the "k"-value of the blend pot matter...

Fretless w/ Bartolini Js - string noise

I have an older 4 knob fretless Carvin w/ Bart J pups. Since installing the Bart pups, that scratch sound from fingers sliding over the strings has increased when changing hand positions. The strings are roundwound set 7/32" from the pups. That`s about as far as I can get them without...

    Carvin and the Fender Jazz

To clarify my position on the Carvins. I consider them as kind of a hybrid able to simulate a number of different sounds; but, they are not a bass with their own identifiable sound like the Warwicks, the Music Man, or the Warriors. Carvin provides sound examples through their webpage and I...

    Carvin BB75 and Jazz pickups...

i found a nick in a pup lead. Taped it up and improved things. Will have to spend some time time re-learning the dials before deciding what to do. I do know this though, I thought the bass was thicker, rounder, more punchy, and less tinny this week. Me happy w/ bass today.

    Carvin and the Fender Jazz

I echo MysticMichael`s thoughts. I play an older Carvin fretless 6 w/ H50N pups / active electronics and a MIM Jazz w/ DiMarzio pup upgrade. Since getting the Carvin I`ve struggled with whether or not to upgrade its electronics - BUT; one thing that had me leaning toward NOT upgrading was...

    Carvin BB75 and Jazz pickups...

Hey D. Don, after letting the all the info. sink in; I`m thinking replacing the pre-amp will improve my situation more that replacing the pups. But that`s just a wild azz guess based upon the following: I have 3 issues with my sound, they are that the bass is 1. tinny sounding -I can`t...

Thanks for the input MysticMichael. Your comment about replacing your J99 steers me further from going with them.
