What's the best bass for punk rock?

It doesn't have to be $2k.

    another weird ebay find

39.5" scale, 2.4" at the nut. On a 4 string jazz bass.

Best tuner in the $100-150 range?

More Turbo Tuner love here. I also got a Peterson TP-2 pickup that you can plug into the input jack to use it with instruments that don't have pickups. I'll probably end up getting the table top turbo tuner that has a built in mic eventually, but the pickup works well enough for a cheap...

    Take it or Leave it

When I had an SVT-4Pro in a rack I left it at the practice space because it was too heavy to carry around everywhere and it wasn't a shared space so it was very secure. Now that I have a LMII I take it with me and my cab stays at home because both spaces we practice in have cabs available for...

Metal/Hard rock guys that use Stingrays?

Skimmed the thread and didn't see this one, so... [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] in Propagandhi plays Stingrays.

Mini-Rigs of Doom: Attack of the Cones-Tres

The Invalid Link Removed can also be used that way as well as being used like a traditional DI.

    Proper String Wiping?

I use Finger-ease string lubricant on both my strings and the back of the neck every week or so and am happier with the results I get from using it than not using it.

    The skinny on nice DI's

If I were only going to own one DI for multiple uses it'd be a Countryman Type 85 or Radial JDI. You can find both for under $200 and anything that costs more is just going to give you a different flavor that won't necessarily be better, not worth the price or (in the case of the tube units)...

    Pix me a Mixer!

Even if you get something bigger/better down the road the A&H would actually still be worth holding onto, or at the very least maintain a decent resale value in comparison to the Samson. In that price range you could also look into getting a used Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro (the newer Onyx stuff...

    Pix me a Mixer!

You're going to have to be more specific about your individual needs to really assess that. What I can tell you just from looking at them is you should ignore the faders for now. The Samson gives you 8 XLR mic preamp inputs while the A&H only gives you 2 fewer at 6. Those 6 channels of mic...

how do you get your songs to have more volume?

    1. Get it done right by someone who knows what they're doing. 2. Get it ruined by someone who doesn't. 3. Learn to do it yourself: http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Audio-Second-art-science/dp/0240808371 (this author is also an active member in mastering section of the gs forum), but keep in...

    Pix me a Mixer!

As far as overall build and sound quality goes, Allen & Heath beats Samson on all fronts.

How do small amps work for recording?

Yes, good idea! Many of the most famous recorded guitar tones you're familiar with were tracked through smaller combo amps, though not necessarily really small practice amps. If you're really happy with your sound through the microbass by all means throw a mic on it and see how it sounds...
