I play my J all the time for shows, but practice with whatever I feel like playing that day. My J has a Hipshot extender on it so it make it my go to during a gig. I would definitely recommend having one installed. Once you get it set up and use to the tuning it is awesome. Never had any problems at all and have used them for years.
