What song sums up Rush for you ?

This is a tough choice but for me personally I think it has to be Subdivisions. I was in high school when that song came out so I could relate to the lyrics. Also, the Signals tour was the first time I saw Rush in concert, so that whole album holds a special place in my heart!

same here as far as my intro to the band...Subdivisions was one of the first songs I mastered on drums and bass as well, probably 3rd on my list

Very tough call . . . I might go with YYZ or La Villa Strangiato, but anything lacking Geddy's banshee wail can hardly "sum up" Rush.

The first song I ever heard by them was "Temples of Syrinx" (I know it's technically part of a song, but I don't remember listening to the rest of 2112 at that particular time). I was over at a friend's house and he put that on his record player, and I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY. I had never heard anything remotely approaching that kind of intensity before. I might even call that a life-changing experience.

I don't know that that song really "sums up" Rush, because there is so much more to them--maybe throw in a side of Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio, but put me down for "Temples of Syrinx."

Dont even get me started .I cant answer that question.Honestly it doesnt have an answer for me .I love all their music and especially keep loving all their new music too.I was thinking about mystic rythms tonight and wanting to write a song with lyrics that talked about some of the wonders of the natural elements and unknown aspects of life in this world .My favorite bass tone ever is Subdivisions. Armor and sword kicks most other rock songs written in the last six years .Honestly thier new album is a fabulous piece and Iam in love with it as much as all their other stuff.(not everyone likes all their material as I do ) .I love all of it .More than anything else music wise ever .If that doesnt answer your question.I always loved that guitar playing in Xanadu especially when it was new .Nothing could touch it .Nothing inspired me more .Oh and then Fountain of Lamneth ........sorry man .I love all of it .Especially the new too.Could I be half as good as them -no I cant.
