What song sums up Rush for you ?

I was cruising on the motorway yesterday, the sun was out (rare) and everything felt really good, I put Spirit of radio on and have to say it is my ultimate driving song, it has so much in it and is a simply awesome song, to me it sums up Rush, what do you think ?

I go to see them in London on 24th may, I booked over a year ago, cannot flipping wait

For me, it's "Tom Sawyer". Not really a driving song , but it's the first song that really turned me onto them when it came out.

Xanadu (but I'm a Rush fan up until Moving Pictures - with a few exceptions).

Xanadu has everything heavy prog Rush was about: mythical sci-fi lyrical content; drum fills that cover every tom,temple blocks, wind chimes, double neck guitars (live, anyways), Geddy's voice hitting the heights ("oh paradise"!), atmospheric synths, a great guitar solo, a long, classically structured prog epic.

Fly By Night. It was the first Rush song My band played back in H.S.
I also love the Caress of Steel album. Specifically "Lakeside Park" Very fun bass to play way back in those days.

Circumstances.....If you know about Rush's early years, there seems to be a ton of introspection in that song, not to mention it Rocks. Not my favorite Rush song, just the one that seems to sum them up as a band.

I'm going to second Xanadu. It's my favorite Rush song and it incorporates the best of where they were at, and where they were headed.

I agree with OP, The Spirit of Radio. Certainly one of their more catchy and commercial songs, but some interesting stuff going on with time signatures, and then the reggae ending.

I love Rush, all their albums; they are probably my favorite band. For me, it would be 'Mystic Rhythms'. But their whole catalog is superb (except for maybe Tai Shan )

Difficult to single out one song or even one album. "2112" obviously is right there but "By-Tor" and "Xanadu" as well.
