I've played this bass. Smokin' sound, and plays like warm butter, feels more like an old P bass.

Hmmm....I don't have an exact measurement, but the neck is not quite as wide as a TRB 5 string, if that tells you anything. I've played a ton of gigs on my sunburst BB425, and love the thing. I tune to Eflat, and still the low B sounds great, just can't hammer it like a longer scale bass...

Just one of my basses, but it sure is the ONE. Greg Smith and Mick Brown, while on tour with Ted Nugent, sat in with my band. I played guitar, and we did a few tunes, I think one was during Rock and Roll. These guys are super solid!

1st report from the field: BB425 rocks. Stop. P pup is very p-ish and pounds wonderfully, stop. Bridge is true single coil, nicely noisy, perfect for Dave Mathews Band stuff, stop. As far as playing it, can't stop, stop. Glad I went with tobacco burst, nice wood, stop. Grab one...

Here's a response from my friend, an audioprostologist: The answer is the saturated sound pressure levels are increased 6dB .... loudness levels are percieved and may seem to be twice as loud ... that is my best knowledge on the question as I interperet it.... Ed

Wish I would have known that! guess it pays to talk to a human, not just order online :) About the slap tone...it's a warm tone, not super clicky like actives. More Larry Grahamish, than modern. I love it :)

I have set mine up for typical rock fingerstyle/picking, but while the action was low, it was very satisfying to slap it silly. :)

The weight seems less than my TRB1005 that was around 9.5. I suppose it varies a bit between basses, even the same model. I just did some futzing with the pups. Brought the bridge pup down quite a bit, and now the B string seems to be on par with the rest of them, when using the front pick...
