    EBMM Retro 70's Stingray Club

I never had problems with regular off-the-shelf rotosound (rounds or flats) with through body, maybe just consistently lucky? Decided to take another shot at lowering the action. Removed the mute assembly, took the first and last saddle height adjustment screws out so they are bottomed out and...

    Flatwounds for Rock

I'm getting back in to playing more bass again after a little break and strung up my stingray with heavy rotosound 77 (LE's with the 110). They are a lot smoother to the touch than I remember them being. I know rotosound 77's don't get a lot of love, but I've never had a rotosound string fail...

    EBMM Retro 70's Stingray Club

After a little more quality time with mine, I figured out my initial dissatisfaction. I couldn't get it set up to my liking and got frustrated with the playability given the price point. This time around I did some research and realized the culprit was the neck angle needed to be adjusted via...

    EBMM Retro 70's Stingray Club

Back in. I had returned mine for whatever reason, I don't exactly recall maybe it was the price, maybe dead spot, whatever. However many months later, it was still up on the Guitar Center wall. I got permission to polish it up in store and check to confirm nothing other than fingerprints...

Paypal Friends and Family, yes or no from a buyers perspective?

Paypal protections don't mean anywhere near as much as people seem to think. I ordered something from overseas that was never even shipped, and the dispute was rejected. Credit card company fortunately came through for me, but I don't trust paypal to have my back if something goes sideways.

    Stingray Classic Returns

The only bolt on neck I don't have that g string 7th fret thing happen to me on is my Fender VI. The balance of mine is excellent, I tried it with one of those really slick couch seatbelt straps and it stayed put. Even though it's apparently 1 pound heavier it "feels" about the same as my 8.8...

    Stingray Classic Returns

Spent a little time trying it out and it seems to me that notes from 5th to 7th fret E don't last as long as others. If I ditch these strings and fall back to stainless rounds I can check again but I want to try to give these a fair shot first.

    Stingray Classic Returns

So far pretty good - bearing in mind it's sporting fresh out of the pack flats and is "almost " setup. I don't have the "clank" I typically associate with 'rays from past experiences. String presence / output seems consistent. I haven't touched the pickup from factory height but dropped the...

    Stingray Classic Returns

I am so sorry to hear about your issue and am right there with you on returning - as price goes up so do expectations. Mine came in today, and it ended up coming with the soft case. No problem because I kept the hardshell from my last stingray, whatever it was. It was nice of EBMM to include...

    Stingray Classic Returns

I just checked my tracking info, bass arrives Wednesday with a shipping weight of 28lbs, so it's either *silly* heavy or these do come with a hard case. I had an old stingray case I pulled out of storage so covered either way and I've already got a couple mono bags (they are nice!).

    Stingray Classic Returns

I just pulled the trigger on one. Black and maple inbound.

Fender Custom Shop prices are SOARING!

Mod shop is through Fender directly, CS had to be processed through an authorized dealer. Whoever you talk with should be able to help you figure out how to keep it at "team built", if not I would pass them over. If they don't care enough to go over build details I wouldn't expect much after...

Fender Custom Shop prices are SOARING!

I think I got my money's worth on my CS VI. The shop that put in the order helped me out a lot after I initially filled out the build sheet so we figured what options I wanted to keep and what I could dispense with to keep the cost merely high instead of comedic. I don't know if it's that last...

Today, I learned about floating bridges.

While changing strings, I had the brilliant idea to condition the fretboard. No sooner than I removed the strings, I heard an odd clunk. Once I realized the bridge wasn't where I expected it to be, I had an absolutely emotional experience. After a moment I sorted out that this was actually ok...

American Standard Jazzes were pretty great

Hello, My preference is actually becoming the small vintage frets and/or fretless, but my in-hand experience was not a little different. To me it just felt like more consistent action on the medium jumbo to the narrow talls - I know this stuff is all relative. To me personally, the tall frets...
